Franchise FC
Zip Newport were done by a very poor decision. A stonewall penalty with just five minutes to go. With 12 players out of contract including some of their best players they are facing a tough summer. VAR can’t come quick enough.

You know that VAR is only being implemented in the PL ?

Yes. I would expect it to follow in the EFL the following season.

Unlikely seeing as goal line technology is only used down to championship level still.

We will see but despite its flaws it’s the way ahead. It’s only a matter of time before it’s used throughout the game. It was farcical last season that some FA Cup games used VAR but others didn’t. It needs to be across the board.

Charlton. Last minute winner in injury time.

Poor old Sunderland. Six successive Wembley trips now ending in defeat and what a miserable way for it to end as well. Like Reading they won on their first visit and since then it’s been a graveyard. Let’s hope Reading don’t get to match that run.

Bit disgusted with the BBC radio coverage though. An afternoon spent yakking instead of any live coverage of the game.

I don’t think they have the rights for the game. Just a word on the attendance. Over 76,000 at the match. Astonishing for a lower division game.

Great for us as Charlton away is usually a good day out with a few beers on board

Didn't Pompey V Sunderland sell out at Wembers in the JP a few weeks ago?

On the attendances, when you consider the size of the fan base and the size of clubs compared with other League 1 clubs, it’s not that astonishing.

We’re just a massive club!

I seem to remember it being something like 35k of us and the rest being Walsall.

Safe to say Sunderland have much more support than us and ditto Charlton v Walsall

85,000 for what amounts to a Mickey Mouse tournament final between two tier three teams is astonishing to me.

It is but two well supported clubs getting to a Wembley cup final they can realistically win (yes I know Pompey won the cup in the last decade) - I'm not too surprised.

I think if we were in L1 and got to the final of the Checkatrade, we would likely take 35k + and we are a mid-sized club.
