Dick, Kerr's Ladies FC (yes that is their name) in 1921. 52,000 saw them play Everton that day.

I was somewhat devastated to learn that it is a very, very long time since players were awarded actual caps for each international they played. I had envisaged the likes of Peter Shilton keeping his 120 in a big wooden chest, but even at that stage players were only getting caps for milestone appearances.

Syd Puddefoot, the 5000 quid player and the only time a Scottish team has ever broken the transfer record

Simmops Bert Trautmann, who played in the Fa Cup final with an actual broken neck. To this day (probably) the only Nazi to have won an FA cup medal.

In goal.

Footballers are soft these days.

The book about him is a great read, if you've not already read it Simmops.

There did used to be a football books thread in this forum, not sure if it's fallen off the board or not.

NathStPaul Goodison Park. The first purpose builf Association Football stadium in the world:

And was only built because Everton had a disagreement over the rising rent costs of their existing stadium - Anfield.

As a result of Everton leaving the owner of Anfield was left with an empty stadium so set up a new club, Liverpool and Athletic Grounds Ltd or Liverpool for short in 1892.

The largest-ever UEFA competition attendance of 136,505 at Hampden in 1970 for Celtic v Leeds European Cup semi-final. Scottish bladders must have been huge back then.

Famous photo of Tom Finney - the Preston Plumber - taken at Stamford Bridge in 1956. VAR is still checking if it was a dive.

Isn't that what Jagermesiter1871 said he would do?
