Reaction from Van De Beek was interesting last night. He was clearly a decent player for Ajax but can’t get going at United. Sure, he hasn’t been given much of an opportunity but with the squad depth they have, that’s a luxury that can’t be afforded

Do feel sympathy though if his move was blocked in the summer for the promise of first team football as his situation has barely improved

Every time he has had a chance he has been poor, think it is just a case of the move being too soon for him. Pressure at United is immense.

Agree

Although must be somewhat demoralising to see Fred chosen ahead of you time after time. He’s improved but he’s still far away from being United level quality

It must be really difficult being the star man one minute and just another player the next. I wonder if his playing style would suit La Liga a bit more than the Premier League. He looks really fragile and lightweight when I have seen him playing Premier League matches, in La Liga you do get a bit more time on the ball and less physicality. I wouldn't be shocked to see Barcelona come in for him, reunite him with De Jong. With their financial issues he is the sort of player they could potentially get for the money they could spend and the wages they can pay.

Is the pressure at Man Utd really that much more compared to the pressure at Ajax if you are Dutch?

Yeah I think so, mainly due to the games being much tougher to play in. You have to perform or you get found out. When playing against Vitesse Arnham for Ajax you know going into it that even if you have an off day it is likely you'll still be too strong for the opposition. He is at the biggest club in the world playing in front of a bigger audience with a huge fee hanging over his head, pressure is huge imo.

Even the worst team in the Premier League would have a decent shot of finishing in the top 3 of the Eredivisie imo, weak league.

ah ok, I was thinking pressure more in terms of media pressure/expectation than the standards of the respective leagus.

Disagree on the final comment though. You think Norwich have a decent shot at being better than Ajax, Feyenoord & PSV Eindhoven (the traditional big 3 there)?!

Ajax are clearly a step ahead but not sure how strong Feyenoord or PSV are anymore

Celtic kicked off at 3:30 this afternoon as UEFA won't allow non CL games be played at the same time as CL games, and they couldn't play on Thursday as Rangers are playing at home then.

Wondered if this was a scheduling fcuk up on UEFA's part then, but it appears that this match was brought forward by one matchday, i.e. two weeks, so as to the avoid the COP26 climate change conference being held in Glasgow, and it is that that caused the clash with the Rangers home game.

Must say it was quite nice to have some live football on in the afternoon. Long may it continue.

They should've done this when fans weren't allowed in. Tiered KO times for midweek games would've been excellent during peak lockdown.

Absolutely, would have given the football supporting members of the public a bit of a boost during the day. I'm not sure many employers would have liked it though, Liverpool v Chelsea at 2pm on a Wednesday would have led to a lot of people having Microsoft Teams problems for about 90 minutes.

Why, oh why, oh why did I have the Spurs game on.
The whole game was scrappy with a capital CRAP.

Good job I only had it as background noise.
