And after Dichio and Sharpe, a Sampdoria hat-trick, which I'd forgotten about in Platt's case. He is just synonymous with Villa to me, even though that was just a quarter of his career.

Think this is mentioned in one of TSF books, was taken on a short term deal following an unexpected loss of a player (Ched Evans would fit the timeline).

Talking of strikers who played a handful of games for West Ham, I often forget that Les Ferdinand played a few games for little old Reading.
Martin Keown too, of course, although it is his time at Leicester that I don't recall.
