Domestic Football 2021/22

by Sanguine » 11 Aug 2021 08:51

Because there aren't enough threads already and couldn't immediately see the weekend football thread...

Found this quite interesting*. Sky Bet and YouGov asked Premier League fans their expected league position this season. Perhaps unsurprisingly, fans are broadly optimistic about the season ahead.

- City fans think they will win the league. So do Liverpool fans, marginally.
- United and Chelsea fans are confident they can come second, but you can only add Leicester to fans who expect their team to reach the Champions League.
- That being said, fans of Leeds, West Ham, Everton, Spurs, Villa and Arsenal expect their team to make a real challenge for a European spot.
- Wolves fans collectively haven't a clue what is in store for them.
- Fans of the clubs expected to struggle all see their season ending the same way. Lots of defeats, but just enough wins to finish 14th or 15th.

I think the Southampton supporters are very overly optimistic there, I can see them having a rel struggle this season. Think Burnley might be in danger too.

I love how none of Arsenal's fans can see them coming 2nd, but a few think they'll win the title :D

There also appears to be a few very ambitious Norwich fans

They are my surprise package for next season, can see them doing ok. They have to stay up at some point surely?

Hoping that Brentford v Villa is televised so I can giggle like a five year old at the abbreviation.
