Newcastle doing the honourable thing and giving Bruce his 1000th game in readiness for Gerrard to be appointed manager next week.

Good on Steve Bruce. What there is little doubt about is that he is a good and genuine man who has done his level best at Newcastle. He's had some good managerial spells, and some bad ones. Is what it is. 1000 games is a phenomenal achievement, and I hope the Newcastle fans can find a way to mark it with some level of appreciation.

If that happens I'd expect James Tavernier to follow him in the new year - Rangers' standout player, and a Newcastle youth graduate.

Odds on this happening are about the same as Bruce still being in the job in May having won the league.

Hadn't thought about Gerard possibly getting the job until someone mentioned it up there^. Then saw a press conf today where he was asked about it and he just kind of deflected it off by saying he has too much respect for Bruce to speculate on that kind of thing

Kind of feels like a nice fit tbh (if you ignore the murdering and stuff by the owners)

hmmm....

I think Gerrard would be mad to take the Newcastle job. Similar sized clubs but he's got a relatively easy job at Rangers and can afford to wait for a decent job to come along. Or Spurs.

Think Gerrard should stay. Somebody like Howe would be good fit.

Chance of CL footy with Rangers. Newcastle will never see that.

Mourinho says he has 'an emotional connection' with Newcastle due to his relationship with Bobby Robson

Plenty of funds from Saudi’s to fund his payoff when it doesn’t work out

Amanda Stavely's face is priceless. Looks like a "I didn't know they were this bad" look.
The murdering bastard next to her looks bored and no idea what is going on.
Well done Spurs.
II feel so sorry for Bruce, he actually looks ill, he doesn't deserve the shit he has had off those pr*cks.
I thought they promised an amazing atmosphere....like a library for 90% of the game.

Lol at Dier. He really is shit. How does he get mentioned in the same breath as the England squad?

Who needs a takeover when you have Jonjo Shelvey and Jeff Hendricks as a midfield  Used to like Shelvey - even thought he was close to warranting an England call up a few years ago but he’s so far off the pace now

Bruce has made them more entertaining to watch this year (not particularly hard granted) but it’s come at a cost of leaking goals left right and centre which has pretty much made his role untenable

Would Howe be a big enough name for the Saudis? I imagine they'll be wanting pretty swift success and I'm not sure a Howe\Newcastle combo will be a big enough lure for the best players even if they do get offered a massively over the odds wage.

Every professional footballer who scores an own goal is "shit"? I will let Ronaldo and Vincent Kompany know.

To be fair, that’s not exactly what’s been said but    anyway
Trevor Senior (that was one of his best near post headers)
Ian Dowie (oh hang on, he may have a point on that one)
Frank Sinclair (I’m not helping here)

They're apparently looking for out of work managers which seems odd. Personally I'd be breaking the bank to get Rodgers in.
