soggy biscuit Reading a Serie A roundup last night I saw Gervinho referred to as 'the early season stand out player' which had me double checking the person they were referring to.

He plays on the wing for Roma and scored twice for them yesterday as they went top of the league

It helps that he has Rudi Garcia managing him (same guy who got him firing at Lille)

Just read that Getafe's Ciprian is actually called Ciprian Marica. He has his first name on the back as his surname is not one you would want on a shirt

marica [el ~] noun
el marica (homosexual ; puto ; mariquita ; maricón ; homo )
the homosexual
homosexual [the ~] noun

made me lol anyway

Levski Sofia appoint Ivaylo Petev as their new manager. First press conference and the Levski fans get in and force him to remove the clubs shirt off as they are unhappy that he gave an interview months earlier where he confirmed he was a fan of CSKA. he quit the next day.

Anyone see the game? Did the Hoffenheim players complain, or did they think it had gone in as well?

They thought it was in to start with at least.

Requesting a replay now though which they should get as there is precedent in the Bundesliga for doing so.

For some reason I'd assumed the Bundesliga will already have employed Goal line technology this season :?

Would FIFA's goal-line tech of choice not have actually given that as a goal too?

Afterall, the ball was nestled in the goal, so the chip would have read a goal

Yeah, Sweden vs Portugal play off could well be pretty spectacular.

I saw Zlat in the flesh a couple of times and, well, he played pretty shite all told but scored 3 goals in 2 games. Plus he wound Barton up something chronic.

Norway - Sarpsborg, managed by Brian Deane, won last weekend in the penultimate match of the season to move out out a relegation place and into 3rd bottom which is the relegation play off position.

All 3 teams at the bottom playing away to teams with nothing to play for. Sarpsborg have 3 teams they can overtake if they win and results go their way, 2 of the teams they could catch are playing each other

Kurt Zouma of St Etienne banned for 10 games for this tackle on Thomas Guerbert of Sochaux which broke both his leg bones and dislocated his ankle

The guy's really unlucky in the way he fell there. I'm a bit loathe to correlate damage caused to length of ban. A perfectly legal tackle could easily lead to damaged joints, for example.

(yeah, that tackle's pretty bad, the scissor thing should be what he's punished for)

Italian 3rd Division - Salernitana Vs Nocerina (the Salerno derby)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD7_PZlPn_g#t=56

game kicked off 40 minute late as the Nocerina players refused to leave the team bus due to receiving death threats from their own fans, who were banned from attending the game, wanting the players to boycott it. Eventually got going yet 2 minutes in and 3 of their players were subbed off due to injuries, over the next 17 minutes 5 other players were taken off 'injured' meaning the game had to be abandoned.

Another hat-trick for Ronaldo. 226 goals in 216 appearances for RM.
