Whore Jackie Inter beat Juve 2-0, to go joint top of Serie A.

In related news, from March they will no longer go by their current official title of FC Internazionale Milano and will be known as Inter Milan. :|
New badge and looking likely they'll replace Pirelli as their shirt sponsors.

That badge looks like a Roman soldier's helmet, so seems a slightly strange choice for a Milan club.

Roma in trouble for making too many substitutions in their cup game on Tuesday night against Spezia. They made 6 (SIX) subs. lol

They also had 2 players sent off and lost the game

Tend to think the first point should put the officials in trouble, as well as/instead of the club.

Atletico, Real and Bayern all out of domestic cups to lower league teams this season.

Good scenes after Athletic (Club) Bilbao won the Spanish Supercup as Asier Villalibre was confident enough to pack his trumpet and take it to the game

Schalke back to normal with a defeat at home to FC Koln. Bottom of the table on GD from Mainz, both stuck on 7 points. Both should beat the Bundesliga record for fewest points in a season, which is Tasmania Berlin's 10 points in 1965-66, albeit with one win each, they need another to equal the record low two wins Tasmania achieved that year.

In fact every record for being shit in the Bundesliga were set that season, including fewest goals scored and most goals conceded.

**non Europe alert**

Copa Sudamericana this weekend which is the South American Europa League equivalent.

Lanus Vs Defensa y Justicia (maybe the greatest football team name ever!) with Hernan Crespo managing the latter. Apparently just getting Defensa y Justicia to a continental final has been quite the story down there, and with his playing career as good as it was they are looking at him as a potential manager of a big European club in the near future. They are traditionally a small club and only been in the top division since 2014 having spent their history knocking about lower divisions

Bottom of La Liga looks fascinating

Alaves, 3rd from bottom and in the relegation zone are only 6 points off 9th place. Elche are 1 place and 1 point lower than Alaves have 2 games in hand too

Atletico go 7 points clear at the top with a game in hand on everyone else

El Mundo leak Messi's contract. Barca and Messi say they will sue.

The bonus numbers look to be same as were already out there but the basic wage is much higher

It all works out to be a total possible earnings of €555M over 4 years. Loyalty bonus of €78M, 2 x payments of €115M for renewing in 2017. The only bonus payment he hasn't received so far is €14M for winning the CL.

He is reported to have earned €511M of the possible €555M with a few months still left to go.

A sports finance company a while back estimated that Messi brings in Barca around €300M per season.

Works out he has been on an average of roughly €400,000 a day so far since signing that deal

If Barca hit the rocks financially and he refuses to move or take a pay cut, wonder what their fans will think will he be legend and hero to zero or still be loved. Their a funny lot over there.
Bet if a British club were in as deep pooh they'd be booted out the CL. They'll probably get another poxy transfer ban.

Was reading something earlier about revenues being down so much at the top clubs that there may be a few clubs, probably those just behind the very biggest, who may not want to win things this season as the win bonuses paid out will only make their finances worse.

Atletico were the example used. If they won the treble then they would be paying out a lot of sizable bonuses to players and coaches.

18 year old great grandson of Mussolini has been given a professional contract by.....yep you guessed it, Lazio!

Romano Mussolini (who's middle name is Benito fwiw) says he has no interest in politics and just wants to play football. In italy it is just being suggested that Lazio have done purely to get onside with some of their fans

French Ligue 1 looking really interesting right now. Lille on a great run of form and are top, Lyon up to 2nd place and PSG down to 3rd

Sounds like they heading for a real mess with their tv deal though. The previous huge one fell apart, the league have put out a tender to complete the remainder of it and the 3 bids they had did not meet the reserve price. Also Canal+ are now suing the french league over the 20% telly rights they have as they paid a high price but now the league are asking for much less per match for the 80% that went bust
