Winston Biscuit Deportivo's match with Fuenlabrada was postponed after 6 players from the latter came down with coroners. Spanish FA decided the other matches should go ahead and so they did.

Results in the other games didnt go their way with Lugo and Albecete both winning and so Deportivo are relegated to the 3rd tier.

The rearranged game is still important as Fuenlabrada can get into the play offs with a win

Deportivo, along with some other clubs, have requested to the Spanish FA that they stay in that division as not playing at the same time puts them at a disadvantage. They say their opponents, Fuenlabrada, broke all sorts of agreed rules on how to handle Covid and Deportivo should not be punished due to that.

Also It is revealed that Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, had an undeclared job paying €130k a year for 2 years as an advisor to Fuenlabrada up to 2018. This is a big story in itself and looks like it may result in him being booted out of Spanish football, but Deportivo are also using it as an argument as to why they should stay in the Segunda division.

Spanish FA announce that the game wont be rearranged and the season ends as it is with Deportivo and Fuenlabrada playing a game less than everyone else.

Makes no diff to Deportivo who were down anyway but Fuenlabrada only needed a draw to get a play off spot in their last game.

Immobile scores again for Lazio taking his goal tally to 35 in the league. 1 game left for him to score 1 goal and equal the Seria A all time record. Today's goal also means he overtakes Lewandowski to go into the lead for the Golden Boot

Ronaldo is 4 goals behind him with 2 games left so would need something pretty special to be in with a chance of being top scorer

Trabzonspor, managed by Eddie Newton, win the Turkish cup.

He took over last week as caretaker manager

Immobile scores again in Lazio's final match of the season taking his tally to 36 therefore equaling the Serie A goalscoring record

...hope Super Lecce can somehow avoid the drop tomorrow eve - they host Parma - it's them or Genoa, who are at home to Hellas Verona, for the drop to Serie B. They'll probably need to win and hope Genoa don't - as they are a point behind and 3 goals worse off.

....and Porto, down to 10 men, have just scored in the first minute of the 2nd Half of the Portuguese Cup Final - to take the lead over Benfica.
They are seeking the double .... got the Irish fellah doing the commentary on Free Sports - he's got a nice low-key delivery, a good line in detail - evidently does his research - and comments on the game and the players without having the godawful self-opinionated, preachiness/over gobbiness of most of our domestic pundits.

I have noticed the accent doesn't lend itself to Iberian names - I sure he said the Eagles goalkeeper was called Shaka Demus! 8)
...probably just me being deaf ....

.... and they've just doubled their lead. 8) 8) 8)

....got one of the master exponents of defensive shithousery in Pepe too now 37 and every bit as 'professional' as he's always been .... which they'll need.

Benfica pull 1 back with a pen and have brought on the odious Taraabt .... now deep into 5' stoppage time.

Double achieved. :D

Craziness in the Austrian 2nd division. On the last day Ried and Klagenfurt were separated by GD for the only promotion spot.

Klagenfurt won their game 6-1, meaning Ried had to win by 5 to go up. They won 9-0.

...not looking good for Lecce at the foot of Serie A after 30 mins this eve - it's on FreeSports
.... :( they're two down and Genoa led by 2.

C'arn the red 'n yellers! .....

.... Well looks they've gone down but not without a battle - L3-4 -result immaterial as Genoa bt H.Verona 3-0.

So back down to B for the valiant Pugliese along with SPAL and Brescia. They did have the worst defence in the division: 85 goals against - though rattled in a respectable 50+ of their own.

Final game of the season in Romania tonight and the top 2 are scheduled to playeach other with Cluj only 2 points clear of Craiova.

3 hours before kick off the Romanian FA announce the game will use 'final rules' so if it is a draw at 90 minute they will have extra time and penalties.

Cluj won 3-1 in normal time anyway but a part of me would have loved to have seen the fallout if it was a draw but the team in 2nd won the league on pens while finishing 2 points off the top.

Teams finished playing different numbers of games too due to Covids.

Winston Biscuit Messi puts in a written request to leave Barca this summer

The Argentina international, 33, sent a fax to the club on Tuesday saying he wishes to exercise a clause in his contract, allowing him to leave for free with immediate effect.

On a related note...

How does Koeman get all these jobs?

He did reasonably well at Southampton but was largely underwhelming at most clubs he has managed

He has a few notable league wins but they are as one of the BIG teams in a farmers league

Crapping hell. Messi to leave Barca. Well I never.

So his contract is up next summer - his buyout clause of €700m therefore looks pretty negotiable. On the free transfer - he apparently had a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave for no fee if he informed the club that he wanted to (lolwut?), but it expired on 31st May. Messi's lawyers are arguing that the extended season means this should apply to 31st August. I don't think they'll win that, but I do think there will now be a battle for Messi's signature, for a fee in the region of £150-200m (which is crazy money for a 33 year old with a year's contract, even if it is Messi).

I really hope he doesn't join City, or PSG, or Chelsea. Nothing against those clubs per se (well, maybe Chelsea), but it's Messi, and there would be something romantic about him joining one of old giants, like United or Liverpool, or Milan or Inter.

Or it might be that this is Messi at the top level done, at least in a year's time. I doubt it, but there has to be a chance that he packs his bags next summer and goes back to Newell's Old Boys.

Hope he comes to England. Would love to see him get kicked around the pitch on a cold wet Tuesday night away at Grimsby in the fa cup.
