As good a place as any for it - Marseille started their pre-season last night at Accrington Stanley. And lost 2-1, despite fielding a strong side that include Dmitri Payet.

Pedant alert.

Marseille started their pre-season with a 1-0 win over Stoke City U23s and played 2 sides last night - first half lost 2-0, second won 1-0 - still a great result for Accrington for though

Osasuna, Athletic Bilbao, Sociedad, Alaves & Eibar announce they have agreed a max €25 ticket cost for away fans in matches between them next season as they are all fairly close to each other and say they want to improve the matchday atmosphere.

Nice touch

Interesting start in Portugal too where Porto lost their opening league game against Gil Vicente and then lost in the Champions League qualifiers putting them out of that. Sporting could only draw on the opening day but that was after losing their version of the charity shield 5-0 the week before

Lyon have won 6-0 tonight in their 2nd game of the season.

Bayern Munich opened the Bundesliga tonight with a draw at home to Hertha Berlin.

FTR - I am predicting Dortmund will win the Bundesliga this season

Would hardly say that Hummels, Thorgan Hazard, Schulz, Brandt and/or Alcacer were massive signings. Very good signings no doubt, but it isn’t like they went out and got Dybala or Eriksen.

Well considering Dybala and Eriksen wouldn't touch that league with a barge poll they are massive signings.

4 of the best players that league has. A proven experienced CB. A left back who was one of the league's best. Covering their problem leaky defence.

Brandt who is one of the best young players in the league as is Hazard. Alcacer who scored a stupid amount of goals last season.

So pretty damn good.

Last weekend Nancy Vs Le Mans, Brest Vs Reims & Monaco Vs Nimes were all halted due to homophobic chanting and banners.

Apparently it's been creeping in a little in french football in recent seasons and the French FA made a statement this summer that it will no longer be tolerated and the refs can stop the games if it happens. The reactions is that the hardcore fans don't like being told what to do and are just upping it even more now.
