No Fixed Abode Southampton will report Liverpool to the Premier League over an alleged illegal approach for centre-back Virgil van Dijk, reports BBC Radio Solent.

Liverpool get away with it with no action being taken by the Premier League largely, it seems, because Southampton didn't provide any evidence to back up their complaint (presumably they had some but agreed with Liverpool to let it go away if they left the player alone).

It'll be interesting to see if Liverpool rejoin the race to sign him as and when anyone else offers Southampton the sort of money they're after for him.

Southampton could also play all of this to their advantage with an agreed not reporting them if they get something in return

Good player I hope he does well. A victim like so many others of the ridiculous system that is in place at Chelsea.

I think that could be a good move for him. Gets to be a big fish in a small pond so his ego is still massaged while also getting a good experience of life away from the pampered world of PL footballers which can only be a good thing to learn about if he wants to be a coach or manager.

Also think Villa will be better than they were last year too so he will likely win more games than he loses.

On the down side he was as slow a footballer as you could find when in his prime, it must look like he is running in wet cement nowadays. I also dread to think how much salary a championship club are paying him, but then that is not my probz is it.

Cabellero to Chelsea to Man City. Could pave the way for Courtous to go to Athletico or Real.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's gone there as backup as they sold Begovic to Bournemouth.

Winston Biscuit Mooy to Hudds for £8M

That's a lot of money for them to spend and not actually improve their squad.

It's a shame someone had to point out the obvious to Double D. I was hoping he could have worked that one out for himself.......

He was their main man last year when on loan. If they didn't sign him their squad would've been significantly weaker and its a signing with no real risk as they know exactly what they're signing. They'd probably have to spend at least that on someone to 'replace' him and not know whether the player would fit in or not.

But he was arguably first choice at man city last season who are about the same level as Chelsea and he is a good keeper. Courtouis to real or athletico for 30-40 mill and you got a free transfer keeper who is just as good as him. It's like a reverse Peter cech

Chelsea had agreed a deal for him prior to letting Begovic go to Bournemouth. They couldn't confirm the deal until the 1st July, once his contract at City had expired. They wouldn't have let Asmir go if they had nobody lined up.

Cabellero as good as Courtois? Nah. He's a good 2nd choice keeper to have though.
