How do Real make this work with FFP?
Even if he is on a five-year contract, that's still more than £30m a year going out, every year, for five years.

I'm not sure if it's technically how FFP works but isn't it only if you make a loss? I expect they probably have far more coming in revenue wise.

RM recently did some funking refinancing and they now have zero net debt and gross debt is paid off over a long period of time at low interest rate. I think they also have the highest (or one of the top 2?) revenue of any club in the world. RM reported a profit a couple of years back (I think?) plus they just took good money in for Danilo and Morata.

Read suttin yesterday about how PSG could potentially afford Neymar at €200M, and broken down annually over an 8 year timeframe with the buying club building loads of commercial activity around the player and taking some of their image rights etc it was suggested to be affordable for the giants of football these days, so Mmmmbop & Real Madrid could fit that too.

genome For this to be sustainable the TV money has to keep going up. What happens if Sky/BT et al finally refuse to pay the rising fees for broadcast rights?

It could all implode

an ITV Digital but on a huge Europe wide scale? would be entertaining!

How does someone who is barely an adult deal with the pressure of justifying a £161m price tag though?

That must be mental

Good thing he left us to pursue his dream of premier league football.

Why the sniping at Norwood? Always very professional for us, one of most consistent midfielders I've ever seen at Reading, and won promotion in his only season at Brighton. It's clearly not worked out, as he wouldn't have moved if he was expecting playing time, but good luck to him at Fulham, surely?

I'm pretty indifferent to Norwood, didn't particularly like him when he was here and at the time was one of the ones that advocated him leaving would make us better as a team.

Also definitely not good luck to him at Fulham, no offence to him, but Fulham can fcuk off.

Still remember Norwood's performance at home to, funnily enough, Fulham in 2014/15.

It was Scholes-esque.

There was lovely footage, that I'm too lazy to find, where all the players had to shake Ronnie's hand as they walked past him as part of that whole shaking hands with refs and opposition thing.

The thing with Norwood is that every 25 yard screamer there was about 50 corners that failed to clear the first defender. He had a knack of make the difficult stuff look easy and the easy stuff look impossible.

I quite liked watching Norwood play, especially his early days when he was a refreshing change to the type of midfield play we'd seen for some time. He was like a poor-mans Simon Osborn but didn't quite have the end product.

A decent player and always seemed like a good lad too.
