Football has officially lost the plot.

He had a release clause, Benfica were never going to sell for less than that, Athletico have a bunch of money after Griezman leaving so something like that was always going to happen. If he becomes the star everyone thinks he will be, then £115m will be money well spent and they would be able to recoup that and more, if they wanted to.

I’d say 20 goals and 11 assists in 43 games is a bit better than okay in your first proper season of football, doesn’t matter what league you’re playing in.

Also after Lo Celso from Betis for €75M as well, splashing the cash this summer

Agreed to an extent, but I don't think we'd be getting excited about a teenager scoring 20 goals in the Scottish League. Certainly not £115m excited, it's madness.

Spanish media were reporting last night that Spurs had made a new bid.

Probably not, no. £115m is madness agreed, but if he develops and Athletico can sell him in 7 years for £300m after he leads them to a La Liga or two, it would've been worth it.

Not sure which source to believe tbh but I would imagine Eriksen is nearly on the way out if they are spending that kind of money

That's €62M then.

I think they are spent, and this sort of transfer proves it.

In what sense does it prove it? Ndombele was statistically one of the best players in the CL last season.

Who is going to replace them in the Champions League?

There were too many mentions of Dembele and Pogba in what I have read about him. He'll come to the Premier League and something won't be right. He'll stay in the side playing badly until Christmas and go on loan next season.

I'd love to be proved wrong as it's going to be a dull Premier League if Liverpool and Man City are unchallenged again. Spurs don't need midfield solidity, they need some magic having been found out towards the end of last year. Too many attacks saw the ball going from one side to the other before Dele Alli scooped the ball up and over the defence into the goalie's hand. If Bale was fit, he would do. One of the Wolves forwards or these brilliant Portugese players might also be good.

:D

That's a very good point. Spurs are past it, Chelsea have Lampard, Arsenal have Ozil, Man Utd an insane transfer policy.

If you were an Everton fan, you would be quietly optimist. Even if you were a Watford or Wolves fan, you would be having pleasant dreams at the moment.
