Big Foot
Wycombe Royal So five years at Man Utd during which he makes a handful of Premiership appearances and they sell him for a £5m profit???/

More crazy transfer prices.......

handful? Was he injured in that season long loan at Watford?

lol

he was also player of the season for them

£5m for a 27 year old England keeper from Man Utd is a fair enough....

City would never sell him to Arsenal.

Considering that City want to break into the top 4, they'd like Arsenal to oxf*rd up next year....

But if they rated Hart then he would be number 1. I cant see him wanting to sit on the bench and the fact they'll want £8m+ for him, the only clubs able to afford that are the ones near the top

there's a lot of talk of Arsenal having mroe money to spend this year. which is a concern since Wenger doesn't always spend it fantastically.

Arsenal sold Adebayor and TOure to try and stop City cracking the top 4.

Given will be 1st choice next season but you would think it would be he last as 1st choice.

Can see Hart on loan to Newcastle or something. May as well send him somewhere he will be busy.

If the rumours are true then Fabregas will be off to Barca with Yaya Toure coming the other way - so that solves 1 midfield role. Chamakh is signing this week so thats 1 striker role sorted.

That only leaves a goalkeeper, centre back and 1 more midfielder left to buy.....with rumours of Buffon and Hart as GK, having had a £14m bid for Pepe Reina turned down. Scott Parkers name has also been thrown in

but surely his loan spells are the reason his price is high.....without them he wouldn't have made it to England number 1

Don't they effect his value then?

Technically his Watford loan spell was during his time at Utd wasn't it?

I think he's proven himself to be a decent Premiership keeper and so £6m is probably about the going rate, especially when you factor in his age and the fact that he's English.

Interesting with Hart though. I think a move to Arsenal would suit him, as would another loan move. He can't sit on the bench though as it's a massive year for him to prove that he can perform consistently and take over from James as Englands first choice.

I think if he goes there he'll be there for a long time - the new Seaman

Doubt it, Wenger will ruin him.

He finished that loan spell 3 YEARS AGO. If he is worth £6m why has he done bugger all since? OK you will say he was out for a season injured but when he did get his chance in the Man Utd starting lineup he messed it up making a number of mistakes, got dropped and couldn't get back in.

I have no doubts he is a good keeper but £6m is way over the odds based on his past performances.

England No. 1 - remind me how many caps he has again? And I must have missed his name when I saw the 30 man provisional squad for the WC......

4 England caps.......he still made it to number 1, and has more caps than Joe Hart who will go for a hell of a lot more than £6m (if sold)

The fact is, he has been at Man Utd getting top quality training, he's still only 27 (young for a keeper), was player of the season at a team that struggled in the Premiership, he can still make it as England keeper with James probably playing his last major tournament and no firm backup in place to take over. The £6m fee isn't just based on what he's done at Man Utd the past 2 seasons its a fee that Man Utd see right when they take into consideration his future etc

Joe Hart has just excelled in a team that finished a lot higher than Watford did and his Premiership experience is a lot more recent, he is higher in the England pecking order and he is younger and therefore has more potential. That is why Hart will go for a lot more than Foster.

Also player of the season in a relegated team isn't that hard to achieve. Due to the amount of saves they have to make they are quite often deemed one of the best players in the team. (Joe Lewis at Peterborough for example).

Anyway as I have said I'm not saying he is a poor keeper, just the £6m is OTT for someone who at 27 years of age hasn't played a great amount of first team football in the top flight, and the majority of what he has played was over 3 years ago.

Apparently the fee is nearer £4m that £6m.......which i dont think is much at all, considering Foster still has a bright future ahead of him. If Man Utd didn't rate him they wouldn't have offered him a new 4 year deal

Joe Hart may be ahead of him in the pecking order with England but that will soon change if he goes back to City and sits on the bench all season.
