Dharmesh Whatzit is maybe the only man on tv I want to punch

he talks in a really weird way. He tries to give his voice some kind of authority that he just doesn't have. near deadline day you will get some ropey scottish bird saying something like 'John Terry is on the verge of a move to Birmingham, over to our official transfer reporter Dharmesh for the latest' he then talks really slowly, with full stops in odd places for drama, stares at the camera a lot but just repeats what has been said. 'thanks scottish bird, yeah that right. John Terry. may be. about to move to Birmingham. Where he would link up with. Steve Bruce. (presses screen a few times behind him to show us picture of John Terry and Steve Bruce) back to you scottish bird'

I'd extend that list to include Kaveh Solokol (sp?), Brian Swanson, Jim White, sod it, let's just say all male SSN presenters

NewCorkSeth I think a lot of clubs are just happy to push through deals for good prospects. Hes young (24 is young right?), home-grown, talented and has a good re-sale value. Liverpool probably figured 4.5 million is the most they can ask for while still sounding reasonable and probably attached some sell-on clauses.

Does Ilori have a sell on clause? He cost 4 million or so right?

I think its a fair enough price for a CB in the current scheme of things.

I'd say 24 is not young. He's been nowhere near the Liverpool first team for 4 years (was he only in because of injuries before that?), its not like he's done anything remarkable when on loan either. Championship is probably his level but its a lot of money for someone who has not improved or shown any signs of improving in the last 4 years. Not saying that Ilori wasn't expensive either.

There's no such thing as too much when Derby are involved

I think its just because I'm getting old and can remember when anything over £1M was a big deal.

I have no idea who the first guy is..... It says something about football these days when I need to Google half the players being transferred.

Funny how not many of them are impressive players..
Kodija is probably the only one I would like at Reading but not for 11 million!

I'm glad we keep transfers low. Keeps us grounded.

Fair enough. I'd bite your hand off for Yedlin and Ritchie.

I would imagine a lot of those transfer fee's are never actually met though. A bit like when McCormack went to Fulham for a reported £11M and people were staggered, then much later it was revealed £5.5M of that was a bonus upon promotion to the PL and the other £5.5M had targets that had to be met meaning it may not all be paid either

Absolutely, I don't thnk the headline prices are often met. I remember Madejski making that same point about (I think) the £19m Leeds had paid for Rio Ferdinand at a Fans Forum.

Saying that though I'd take Costa, Ritchie and Pritchard, although perhaps the latter two on their form before their big fee transfers.

I've just read this morning that Harry Maguire has gone to Leicester for £17m!! That's pretty mental even if it is £12m upfront with the rest in add-ons.

I have always assumed that if any of us were actually let loose on a football league or PL club accounts system where we could view payments, advertising, costs, transfers etc we would be quite surprised and would naively go 'hang on, this is not what I was lead to believe by newspapers!'

Apparently Ronaldo wants to leave Spain after being accused of tax evasion.
