- Was at this one – tried to stay local in N.Berks league but both ‘new’ choices in Div 1 were rained off so headed for the nearest ‘revisit’ with decent cover. Just as well - threw it down. Diddy bagged three belting long range goals but with a defensive understanding twixt Keeper and back four that makes RFC look like Milan, they never stood a chance of getting three points from this one.
Sadly Diddy’s Burger Hut down in the corner is no more – lady who ran it is now tucked into little more than a Pie and Hot drinks Kiosk at one end of the stand. Apparently she was ‘evicted’ to make way for a Club Shop which quickly morphed into a Kit store room. Bar still nice ‘n comfy though.

Guernsey and South Park both still in multiple cups and already played 7 games less than Windsor in the CCL. That's going to become a pressing problem if winter weather sets in, particularly for Guernsey due to the travelling issues both for them to mainland and vice versa.

I can see their season going to pot in the Spring due to a fixture pile up - they'll have to play a load of midweek games meaning days off work for players who don't get paid... possibly necessitating rotation in of less able players - not a great scenario for them. Still, I suppose the league (and the teams who voted them in) could / should have foreseen problems of this sort. Hasn't been helped by the weather in Guernsey which has been shite for the last month or so.

Rother at what point does a revival just become the set standard? I have to hold my hands up and say i didn't think it would turn around like this but glad i am wrong.

With the current way the club is run the challenge is to keep the side together and replace those that do leave with players of same level which will be hard but if it can be done mid season no reason it cannot be done over the summer.

That and the absolute ba$£ard of a traffic system through the 'City' if you aren't familiar with it. Basically head for the 'City' Railway station (not the Abbey) - Clarence Park is round to the NE behind it. Pitch was fine - home side won with something to spare ..... and I hadn't been here before.
Lucky I chose this over Boreham Wd v H&Y - the other option in this direction - think that one got called off very late.
... and was back home indoors by 17:55.

I've said it before but non league ticket prices are not THAT good. Compared to top flight yes but below it i'm not so sure. I think anything approaching a tenner for non league just isn't value for money although conference clubs with real and genuine FL chances i can understand why they do charge that much but St Albans?!

... agreed - and I thought Diddy was a bit steep at £9 -

- presumably StAlebuns have lads on big money still, following their drop out of the Conference 2 seasons' back and are trying to climb back ASAP?
Then again they never exactly set STEPS 1 or 2 alight in the few years they were that high - maybe they just charge what they feel they can.

In roughly the same area : Hitchin charge £10 & Luton charge £18 but Hemel in the same division charge £8.

Not sure but the game I decided NOT to go for at Boreham Wd was being advertised as £6 entry - may have been a special - and that's in the division above?

Great win for the Yellamen and we really had to hold our nerve with Cheltenham Saracens having to travel so far after the pitch passed the referee's inspection at 10am and with a huge amount of weather expected in the afternoon. The pitch just held out.
