Four Of Clubs ...

... and a Hants Q-F
Winchester City 4-3 Alresford Town - City join Blackfield & Langley in the last 4

Winch always take the Hampshire Senior Cup pretty seriously. This was a big local derby, good crowd etc. Shame I couldn't make it.

Burnham 0-6 Brimscombe.
Burnham struggled to get a keeper for this and bought back in a player they let go earlier in the season as he wasn’t rated. After today he will be rated even lower, he was poor and probably at fault for 5 of them. The other goal was superb and I don’t expect to see a better goal for a while. The ball was cleared to just outside the box and it was volleyed through the crowded box and off the underside of the bar. The pitch was awful!

The honest answer is I don’t know! I had my head in my hands after most of the goals.

Brackley 2 Salford 1

I could get to like this non-league stuff

Brackley play some attractive passing football and got two goals up early both from headers
There are three players who stood out for me and wouldn't mind seeing them at Reading. Obviously you can only play as well as the opposition let you but they look skilful enough and all have more heart than the current Reading team (doesn't say much!)

Salford, being on top of the table and having the full time players, expected to win and didn't like being behind. A few players got niggly and I could hear their obnoxious joint managers from the other side of the pitch. But Brackley kept them out again and again and only conceded around full time.

Really enjoyable and as per my last visit no play acting

I'll be back for more

Round-up of yesterday's 'local' NL results:

Sat 27th Jan

NAT
Leyton Orient 2-3 Aldershot Town
Maidenhead United 3-0 Chester
Woking 1-0 AFC Fylde
NATN
Brackley Town 2-1 Salford City
NATS
Chelmsford City 1-2 Hampton & Richmond Borough
Concord Rangers 2-1 Eastbourne Borough
Dartford 3-1 Whitehawk
Gloucester City PP Chippenham Town
Hemel Hempstead Town 0-1 Poole Town
Hungerford Town 1-1 Bognor Regis Town
Oxford City 1-1 Bath City
St Albans City {SEVEN} 7-2 East Thurrock United
Truro City PP Havant & Waterlooville
Wealdstone 2-1 Weston-super-Mare
Welling United 3-0 Braintree Town

ILP
Brightlingsea Regent 2-3 Dorking Wanderers
Lowestoft Town 2-4 Staines Town

- with our first choice washed out down in the West Country - we headed in the opposite direction and got a new-tick at :
Isthmian League One South Hythe Town 3-2 South Park - typical rickety, rusty heap of a stadium tucked away between an estate and some Industrial parks not far from the coast and very near the Romney/Hythe/Dymchurch railway line. M20 was blissfully quiet so we got there with plenty of time to spare.
- very feisty tussle with the visitors reduced to 10 men but twice leading before the home side hauled them back and grabbed a late winner in ever worsening conditions.
Quaint ol' upstairs bar with a long covered balcony overlooking the pitch. Had to have member passes to watch from up there; this was rigorously 'stewarded' by a fairly large individual that probably caused a serious structural overload each time he walked out onto it!

SLP
Basingstoke Town {SIX} 6-2 Tiverton Town - Sam Argent with 5 8)
Chesham United 2-1 Bishop's Stortford - BS led at HT through Jamie Cureton but the 'Generals' turned the result in the 2nd half
Slough Town 3-2 Merthyr Town - a Lench brace for the Rebels, his 2nd and the winning goal on 94’
Weymouth {SIX} 6-0 Farnborough
SL1E
Barton Rovers 1-3 Hartley Wintney - HW just outside the PO spots in 7th
Bedford Town 1-0 Ashford Town (Middx)
Chalfont St Peter 2-0 Arlesey Town
Fleet Town 1-2 Cambridge City
Hanwell Town PP Beaconsfield Town
Hayes & Yeading United 0-2 AFC Dunstable
Marlow 4-2 Egham Town
Thame United
2-0 Aylesbury
Uxbridge 1-0 Aylesbury United
SL1W
AFC Totton 1-3 Kidlington
Bideford PP North Leigh
Bristol Manor Farm 1-1 Swindon Supermarine
Taunton Town 3-1 Didcot Town
Winchester City
2-0 Cinderford Town

CCLP
Abbey Rangers 1-1 Farnham Town
Banstead Athletic PP Bedfont Sports
Camberley Town 2-1 Balham
Colliers Wood United 1-3 Westfield
Godalming Town
0-0 CB Hounslow United
Guildford City 4-1 Hanworth Villa
Knaphill 5-0 Redhill
Horley Town 2-2 AFC Hayes
Spelthorne Sports 0-0 Epsom & Ewell
Walton & Hersham 1-3 North Greenford United
CCL1
AC London 2-1 Eversley & California
Ash United
0-0 Farleigh Rovers
Bagshot 0-9 {NINE} Worcester Park
Bedfont & Feltham 0-2 Raynes Park Vale
Cobham {SIX} 6-2 Fleet Spurs
Cove
1-3 Chessington & Hook United
FC Deportivo Galicia 0-6 {SIX} Frimley Green
Sheerwater
4-1 Staines Lammas
South Park Reserves PP Kensington Borough

HELLP
Binfield 3-2 Abingdon United
Burnham
0-6 {SIX} Brimscombe & Thrupp
Fairford Town 1-3 Thatcham Town - visitors go top, finally overhauling Highworth on GD. I think the 'Worthians', whose game was washed-out again, have held 1st place all season - started the season with 13 straight wins - but the 'Kingfishers' have also won their last 13 league games on a run of 18 straight wins incl. Cup Ties. Ongoing participation in the FA Vase may stall them - particularly should
Highworth Town PP Flackwell Heath
Longlevens PP Windsor
Lydney Town PP Bracknell Town
Wantage Town 2-0 Highmoor Ibis
HELL1E
Wokingham & Emmbrook 3-1 Chinnor
AFC Aldermaston PP Holyport
Didcot Town Reserves 2-2 Chalfont Wasps
HELL1W
Woodstock Town 2-5 Letcombe
- 2nd placed Shrivenham hosted leaders Ardley and the sides shared 12 goals  – sadly in front of only 28 hardy souls.
If I’ve got this right the scoring sequence was: 0-1, 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-4, 3-4, 3-5, 4-5, 5-5, 5-6, 6-6 - the last equaliser a pen.
- indeed there were 32 goals spread across the four games played involving sides from One West this PM.

WESSP
Alresford Town 4-3 Baffins Milton Rovers
Andover Town 5-3 Petersfield Town - brave effort by bottom club Petersfield at league leaders – they led 2-0 and were 3-2 up at HT
WESS1
Christchurch PP Alton
Tadley Calleva 1-2 Andover New Street - ANS clamber back top above morning leaders Tadley, with a noteworthy win - they've gained more points to date in 17-18 than they managed in their previous TWO seasons in total - some serious improvement there.

Four Of Clubs Round-up of yesterday's 'local' NL results:

Sat 27th Jan

Winchester City[/b] 2-0 Cinderford Town

[/i]

Had to go to work so missed this one. No-one above us, except table topping Taunton, won so this took us up into the play off positions. The game was stopped for half an hour after a Cinderford player got a serious injury, after an accidental clash with a team mate. Ambulance called etc. Hope the guy is OK.

Maidenhead 3 - 0 Chester

Chester brought down a good following over about 300, which I though was excellent given the bad news they had to face in the days before.

Their team wasn't so enthusiastic and looked pretty beaten up by it all. Maidenhead ran over them from the start and could have won by a lot more.

Maidenhead didn't drop a single point against the eventual bottom 9 teams last season. They might not be the best/prettiest team to watch at times, but their application is pretty much never at fault. Any team showing a weakness tends to get dispatched readily.

Chester trying to release payers that are on 2 (two) years contracts. I guess some clubs will never learn.

What's the full story behind Chester's current sorry state? Thought they'd got rid of the problems, have they been over stepping their boundaries or has something happened elsewhere to cause their funding to suddenly cease?

Seems to be a case of just poor club management. No cup runs, poor league form & all of a sudden they can't pay the bills.

I reckon half the league are existing right on the limit. Solihull Moors have now gone more or less full time. On gates of 600. Having been mismanaged themselves very recently. It's quite pathetic really, only one way that's going to end.

There are one or two clubs in the league with their own John Madejski and building up a club the right way. Fylde are probably the best example, I would expect them to be in the FL very soon.

Huge games over the weekend in the FA Vase. Worried about Bracknell, fear it could be the end of the road.

Yep, good luck to them all. Windsor have by far the kindest draw of the 3 Berkshire sides.

Macclesfield Town fail to pay their player's wages for January.
