HELLP
Ascot Utd v Brackley Town Saints
Binfield v Longlevens
- NB both these were added in/brought forward at very short notice so missed the original preview post - sorry!
Holmer Green v Bishops Cleeve
Lydney Town v Ardley United
Reading City v Windsor – recent troubles at City have been covered in part above
- this game is free entry to RFC ST holders
- some suggestions currently on Twitter that certain issues behind the scenes are being ‘resolved’; sadly not before a few high-profile performers (Parker, Edwards etc) have departed in the wake of Andy Findlay the Joint Manager
- the departing AF is throwing out a few asides that might put into question (allegedly) the much heralded favourable deals, announced when the new management structure was set up – as is so often the case seems to come down to money.
- reportedly more could be made public next week – not sure by whom?

Shrivenham v Tuffley Rovers
- Trundled up to Brackley’s St James’ Pk on Wed evening, to see bottom placed Shrivy get the worst of a 2-5 pasting at leaders Saints. Scoreline a bit harsh but the fledgling Brackley side were too fast and too fit for Shrivy to endure.
- visitors actually led on merit at HT 2-1 but folded under superior pace and fitness, the longer the game wore on.
- Young 'Saints' now 7 points clear at the top.

- Performances such as this may get certain Anoraks and FA/League Officials poring over the constitutional eligibility aspects, of the grading criteria for the Evostik League. ‘Saints’ are effectively Town’s 2nd string. Presume they may be allowed up to STEP04 should they win the Hellenic Premier but not so sure what would happen after that.
- their next few games do look winnable; host Binfield next Wed which might be a test - they do play Bps Cleeve early in Dec then have a tough trip to Lydney - win the majority of those and the one's in between & people will start checking the rule books. 8)

Virginia Water v Fairford Town @ Windsor FC
Wantage Town v Flackwell Heath - ‘Freds’ Manager has also quit this week stating he has taken the club as far as he feels he can?
HELL1E
Chalvey Sports v Woodley United @ Slough FC
Chinnor v Abingdon Town - assuming the Abbots can find enough players for a First team - reportedly the Manager and 1st XI have departed en masse for Kidlington :o :(
Holyport v AFC Aldermaston
Penn & Tylers Green v Wokingham & Emmbrook @ Amersham Town FC
HELL Challenge
Burnham v Almondsbury
Milton United v Cheltenham Saracens

WESSP
Alresford Town v Bashley
Andover New Street v Bournemouth
Baffins Milton Rovers v Tadley Calleva
WESS1
Alton v Fawley AFC
Andover Town v New Milton Town
East Cowes Victoria v Whitchurch United
Hythe & Dibden v Petersfield Town

I have to say that your post and pre match reviews are top notch. Both make excellent reading.

Keep up the good work.

Took in Maidenhead 0 Fylde 6 (six), Fylde scored an early goal inside 10 minutes before Maidenhead had a player sent off for a rash challenge and Fylde went 2 up from a penalty before half time. After half time the magpies completely caved in as Fylde attacked at will and missed several sitters. Fylde looked an extremely accomplished side playing short crisp passing and making space. Their number 9 Danny Rowe looked a real classy player and would have scored a hat trick had it not been for 2 outstanding saves.

I believe Ben Sadler is back at Wantage and took charge of the loss to Flackwell on Saturday.

Not sure if that’s a permanent return or not as the club have said its until they find the right replacement. Presumably Sadler could be that right man once they’ve let the dust settle...

Amesbury 5 V 4 Laverstock.

1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-4, 5-4.

Entertaining game. With Laverstock missing a penalty as well.

Four Of Clubs SL1-S

Winchester City 1-1 Highworth Town City pegged back by late Edenborugh pen

This was a b@stard of a game. Winch were all over them for most of the game, messed up loads of good chances and could only score 1, even after they had a man sent off.

Apart from the ref, nobody, not even the Highworth players, had any idea what the pen was for. Two points thrown away. I won't blame that all on the duff penalty - Winch threw away far too many chances - poor decision making, crossing when a shot would have been better and vice versa.

Coupled with freezing weather, a miserable afternoon. Oh the joys of being a football fan. Went into Southampton for a gig afterwards, and commiserated with Saints fans!

Reading City looked pretty rubbish on Saturday.

Very comfortable 3-0 win for what is a pretty average Windsor team right now.

The chanting kids with hooters and the guy banging the drum kept up a racket for most of the 1st half. Didn’t see them in the 2nd. :D

At the start of the season the talk was all about the big launch and how money was being spent on the ground etc. etc. Only other time I’ve been there it was dark but can’t say I saw any obvious evidence of where the money was spent.

It’s still a bit of a dump.

The wheels are off there, wouldn't shock me to see them vanish at the end of the season.

You could take the word City out of RRs post and it would't sound much different to one of our home games tbh.

Lots of upheaval over the last couple of weeks, mainly it seems because of issues behind the scenes and, if rumours are true, the family who were bringing in the money and a fair few of the players have now left. One of the joint-managers stepped down in the build up to that all coming to a head too.

The side they had out at the weekend only had 2 or 3 regulars who have stayed on. I think they probably did well to get the side out that they did, and no surprise that they looked a bit on the crap side.

I'd be surprised if thy weren't around next season though. They might not be the force that some were hoping though, that's for sure.

WTF is going on at Maidenhead at the moment, the distraction of Pompey coming to town?

Consecutive 0-6 and 7-0 defeats will have Westwood and his entourage worried.

Windsor 2-0 Holmer Green

What happened to the warm balmy evenings?

2 cracking goals in the 1st half and then very composed but not especially entertaining 2nd half. 3 wins, 3 clean sheets take us to the Vase game at (high flying) Chichester on Saturday. Tough draw.

AthleticoSpizz WTF is going on at Maidenhead at the moment, the distraction of Pompey coming to town?

Consecutive 0-6 and 7-0 defeats will have Westwood and his entourage worried.

Also it's 5 league defeats in a row I believe.

Maidenhead are one of only 2 amateur sides in the league though and in both the last couple of games they've had a player sent off in the first half plus haven't they had a tough run of games as well?

I think Maidenhead have probably gone as far as they can, done bloody well too. To be one step away from league football for a club of their size and budget is incredible. If they go down they can be very proud of what they have achieved.

Bracknell drew 2-2 aet at Bognor last night but crashed out of the Trophy 3-2 on penalties thanks to ex Reading keeper Dan Lincoln saving 3!

Annoyingly though Bracknell were apparently 2-0 up after 15 minutes.

Still to hold Bognor twice to 2-2 draws shows that Bracknell, on their day, are actually not too far off being Isthmian Premier (Step 3/Division 7) quality especially when you realise that Bognor were a Conference South side last season and have only lost once in the Isthmian Premier so far this season.
