mx Street FC have resigned from the Southern League. They are 10th in the wonderfully named Evo-Stick Southern Division One South, and say there's no financial crises or ground upgrade issues, so it sounds odd. I assume it's effective at the end of this season, and results stand. (we've beaten them 5-0 and 2-0, so I hope so)

Guess they drop down to the Western League, whence they came.

Just reads like there aren't enough local people happy to/able to volunteer to allow the club to compete at that level on the long term, so best to step down a level now and secure the long term future rather than plough on until it becomes a problem. Makes sense.

Royal Rother Windsor 3-0 Brackley Town Saints

Possibly Windsor’s best performance of the season against promotion chasers BTS. We never really gave them a sniff.

Shame we presumably won’t have Dan Roberts next season as this squad is starting to look like potential challengers.

Don't do it to yourself. Anyone half decent will go to a club offering a packet of wotsits and a coke as a wage.

Well indeed, it would need to be a perfect storm for us to keep a squad together long enough to get in the Top 2 and that’s not really likely.

Windsor 2-0 Fairford

Comfortable win. 3 wins with none conceded in the last 8 days.

16 yo Jack Gibson is a striker with maturity way greater than his age would suggest. A real physical specimen, he is a battler with a good touch, not overawed by men’s football in the slightest, with plenty of balls and aggression but zero attitude to go with it, never once showing a modicum of dissent or frustration when penalised / fouled / offside / which is refreshing.

He is going to be very good.

I genuinely felt that if Aldershot could have won that game at Bromley on Saturday then they may have pulled off a miracle given their run in compared to Dover but it looks like that equaliser has killed them off

Saw Sandhurst scrape a 1.0 win over Kensington, bit of a hit and miss season for Town but ended off the season with the 3 points

Sat behind a lad in the stand who was watching the Hull game on his I-Pad so a bit of multi tasking match viewing required

Great win for Bracknell on Saturday that I was fortunate to be at. Coming back from 0-2 to win 3-2 is no mean feat.

Winch got beat 3-2 at Yate - granted they are second, but we were ahead, they had their captain sent off and we still lost, Travelling fans say we didn't deserve to lose, but suddenly we are out of the playoffs and our run in looks tough.

But I saw Oli Bailey in Sainsbury on Sunday!!!!!

Sorry a bit late with the review this week - here's the round-up :

NL results:

Saturday 6th April

NAT
Bromley 2-2 Aldershot Town - Sh!ts hanging by a thread now – Boreham Wood and Dover only need a point each from their last 4 games to send them down. Braintree and Maidstone already gone.
Maidenhead United 0-1 Barnet – 'Magpies' probably need 2 points for mathematical safety – but are almost certainly safe based upon Havant’s current form
NATN
Brackley Town 2-0 Guiseley
NATS
Billericay Town 1-3 Hampton & Richmond Borough
Chippenham Town 1-2 Dulwich Hamlet
Eastbourne Borough 1-2 Gloucester City
Hungerford Town 1-2 Slough Town
Oxford City 2-1 Hemel Hempstead Town
St Albans City 3-1 Chelmsford City
Truro City A-A Concord Rangers Abandoned serious player injury (Rangers 0-1 up)
Wealdstone 3-0 East Thurrock United
Welling United 2-1 Bath City
Weston-super-Mare 3-1 Dartford
Woking 3-3 Torquay United

ILP
Dorking Wanderers 3-0 Worthing – Wanderers Champions – some achievement bearing in mind approx. 10 years ago they were at the bottom level of the Sussex Leagues playing ‘up the hill’ at Westhumble.

IL1-SC
Bracknell Town 3-2 Ware – 'Robins' 2 down at HT – late goals from Bowerman, Cornell and Ferdinand with the 90’ winner
Chalfont St Peter 2-1 Ashford Town (Middx)
Cheshunt 1-1 Uxbridge
Egham Town 1-1 Bedfont Sports
Hanwell Town 3-1 Northwood
Hayes & Yeading United 1-0 Chipstead
South Park 0-3 Westfield
Waltham Abbey 3-3 Marlow

SLP-C
Banbury United 2-0 King's Lynn Town
SLP-S
Basingstoke Town 3-3 Tiverton Town
Beaconsfield Town 2-0 Wimborne Town
Farnborough 1-2 Poole Town – visitors pinch it on 90’
Harrow Borough 0-2 Chesham United
Merthyr Town 1-2 Hartley Wintney two very late goals (87’ & 93’) turn the game on it’s head and secure three points for 'The Row'
Walton Casuals 4-1 Frome Town
Weymouth 4-0 Staines Town
SL1-C
Aylesbury United 1-2 Corby Town
Cambridge City A-A KidlingtonAbandoned - serious leg injury to Kiddy captain & keeper Sam Warrell on 81’; City were 3-0 up; visitors already down to 10 men
Kempston Rovers 1-1 Didcot Town
North Leigh 3-3 Welwyn Garden City
Thame United 4-1 Aylesbury
SL1-S
Fleet Town 0-2 Cinderford Town
Highworth Town 4-0 Bristol Manor Farm
Thatcham Town 1-2 Mangotsfield United
Yate Town 3-2 Winchester City – City beaten at 2nd place Yate, drop to 6th just outside POs but have a game in hand - host AFC Totton on Tue night.
-Blackfield and Langley stay top thanks to a 95’ winner at Bideford

CCLP
Abbey Rangers 3-1 Horley Town – Rangers consolidating 3rd and may yet overhaul SCR if they run out of steam in the run in.
Badshot Lea 0-3 Chertsey Town 'Curfews' go top having reeled in SCR over the last few weeks: – with 9 league games left they still have 6 in hand but now play 2-3 times per week for the rest of April before the Vase Final mid-May. Need 9 points to be certain of finishing top.

Balham 2-1 Walton & Hersham almost certain that Walton & Hersham will be relegated, probably along with CB Hounslow and one other
– 5 points separate the next 8 sides.

CB Hounslow United 0-2 Cobham
Knaphill
0-3 Camberley Town
Raynes Park Vale 1-0 Hanworth Villa
Spelthorne Sports 1-0 Redhill
Sutton Common Rovers 3-4 Guildford City City up to 5th
CCL1
Ash United 3-1 Bedfont & Feltham – B&F really hit the skids over the last month or so; having led the table in March they have dropped a massive 13 points behind the top side Sheerwater.

British Airways 0-1 Sheerwater
Cove
2-5 Eversley & California – Cove’s half decent run through Jan/Feb staggered to a halt in March, with only 1 point from a possible 15 and they will finish bottom
Epsom & Ewell 1-1 Fleet Spurs
FC Deportivo Galicia 2-0 Dorking Wanderers Res
Frimley Green 3-2 Chessington & Hook United
Godalming Town 1-5 Tooting Bec
Sandhurst Town 1-0 Kensington Borough – 'Fizzers' actually have three games left (all away) and perhaps if results go for them, they have an outside chance of finishing 3rd but that would require all three teams above them to implode.

HELLP
Ardley United 0-0 Holmer Green
Bishops Cleeve 2-1 Reading City – City drop to 2nd bottom and are now certain to finish in the bottom three.
– Ab. Utd below them almost certainly relegated. The Scours Lane outfit look odds on to finish where they are now and drop to Div One
– a far cry from the early optimism following the name change and squad gathering that went on in Aug-Sept – when big things were expected.
- However they do have two games left BOTH against Longlevens, who are currently only three points above them. They’ll also need to hope that not only Wantage do them a favour this week but also Binfield come to their rescue in the ‘Moles’ final game @ Longlevens, on Easter Monday

Flackwell Heath 1-2 Lydney Town - disappointing season for 'Heathens' - they host 3rd-placed Bps Cleeve this Tuesday - then have four more league fixtures incl Tuffley, Wantage and Ascot @ Home & Windsor away.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town 2-3 Longlevens
Wantage Town 3-1 Virginia Water - ‘Freds’ 2 points behind leaders with 2 games in hand. As above they host struggling Longlevens on Tuesday night but the Gloucester-based club have hauled themselves towards safety, with a good run of late (four wins and a draw in eight) – so may stall their chase for the title.

Windsor 2-0 Fairford Town
HELL1E
Chalvey Sports {FIFTEEN} 15-1 Abingdon Town - think their manager (ex-goalkeeper Gareth Tucker) had to make up the numbers and play outfield
Didcot Town Development 1-0 Burnham – Blues already champions thanks to Wokingham’s win at Aldermaston at the end of last month
Holyport 2-0 Wallingford Town

WESSP
Andover New Street 0-5 Alresford Town - pretty much seals ANS' instant return to STEP06
Fareham Town 1-3 Tadley Calleva
WESS1
Alton 1-0 Amesbury Town – surprise defeat for the leaders at lowly Alton- previous defeat was mid-Jan
Andover Town 1-1 East Cowes Victoria
Romsey Town 3-2 Whitchurch United

Made a cross-country jaunt down to :
SCFL-P Chichester City 2-0 Langney Wanderers – at the Countrywide Gas Stadium.
- Sounds from motor-racing @ Goodwood about 2-3 miles away as a backdrop.
- Tidy enough ground and they evidently score plenty of goals at this level but it’s difficult to see them having enough to make their stay up at STEP04 a lengthy one.
- Indeed it does seem to be a trend that Southern Combination (ex-Sussex) league sides can make it up to the lower level of the Isthmian but are rarely there for long – notable exception being Dorking Wanderers who will take their place at STEP02 for 19-20 season.

Four Of Clubs Bishops Cleeve 2-1 Reading City – City drop to 2nd bottom and are now certain to finish in the bottom three.

Reading City could, ironically, end up swapping places with AFC Aldermaston who have a number of ex-Highmoor/IBIS players and coaches amongst their ranks.

Four Of Clubs Yate Town 3-2 Winchester City [i]– City beaten at 2nd place Yate, drop to 6th just outside POs but have a game in hand - host AFC Totton on Tue night.

Winch beat Totton 2-1 (I didn't make it), so we are back in the play offs. We have a tough run in though, and need to win at home on Saturday, when we play Bristol Manor Farm (15th). After that it's Melksham (9th) away, Blackfield & Langley (top, and likely to still be fighting for the only automatic promotion spot), before finishing away at Cinderford (6th) in what could be a "play off" for the final play off spot.

Hertford Town v Egham Town
Northwood v Bracknell Town
- watched the ‘Robins’ surprisingly get beaten on Tue - 2-1 at bottom club and managerless Egham. Windsor 2-0 Bishops Cleeve

Another excellent performance against a promotion chasing team. 1st goal for 16yo Jack Gibson who is going to have a career at a far higher level of football I suspect. Just hope we can keep him for a season or 2.

He lives somewhere nearby but has been at Lincoln recently and Stevenge for a couple of years. The travelling was starting to get in the way of his GCSE studies so the family decided to find somewhere more local, and Windsor it is, thankfully.

Winchester City 1-3 Bristol Manor Farm

Disappointing to say the least. As I said above, on paper this was the easiest of our remaining games. We just never got it together, despite going ahead. That said, two of their goals were massive deflections, and they never looked particularly better than us.

Oh, and I won £70 on the 50/50 8)

NL Results:

Saturday 13th April

NAT
Aldershot Town 1-1 Hartlepool United – relegation confirmed for the Sh!ts- ‘pool levelled on 80’
Salford City 3-0 Maidenhead United - defeat here actually drops the ‘Magpies’ down to 20th but a whopping 11 points clear of the drop zone
- four clubs currently 21st – 24th confirmed as down now, with Havant’s very late defeat at Solihull (Maidstone & Braintree were already down). There will have to be some serious juggling of boundaries to share out the ups/down evenly between the National North/ South

NATN
Spennymoor Town 2-1 Brackley Town
NATS
Bath City 0-3 St Albans City
Chelmsford City 2-0 Woking
Concord Rangers 0-1 Oxford City
Dartford 0-1 Chippenham Town
Dulwich Hamlet 3-1 Hungerford Town – Truro’s point @ Hemel, puts ‘Crusaders’ back in the relegation zone and they have played a game more (Truro replay their abandoned game vs Concord this Tuesday) – but they are only a point behind Gloucester & Eastbourne Boro who have three games left. Gloucester go to Truro on Easter Saturday; Eastbourne host PO chasing Dartford. Hungerford host 5th placed Bath the day before.

East Thurrock United 2-3 Weston-super-Mare
Gloucester City 1-4 Billericay Town
Hampton & Richmond Borough 2-1 Wealdstone
Hemel Hempstead Town 1-1 Truro City
Slough Town 1-0 Welling United – good win for 'Rebels' over third placed Welling – they are in with a faint chance fo sneaking a PO spot but would probably need to win all three remaining games to overhaul Bath or St.Albans

Torquay United 2-0 Eastbourne Borough – ‘Gulls’ are Champions

ILP
Tonbridge Angels 0-2 Dorking Wanderers
IL1-SC
Ashford Town (Middx) 1-2 Tooting & Mitcham United
Chalfont St Peter 3-0 Bedfont Sports
Chipstead 0-1 Hanwell Town
FC Romania 0-2 Marlow Marlow still need a point to be certain of a PO spot
Hayes & Yeading United 4-2 Waltham Abbey
Hertford Town 3-1 Egham Town ‘Sarnies’ relegation confirmed
Northwood 0-3 Bracknell Town – ‘Robins’ definitely in the POs
South Park 1-4 Cheshunt
Ware 2-1 Uxbridge
Westfield 3-1 Molesey

SLP-C
Leiston 0-0 Banbury Utd
SLP-S
Beaconsfield Town 1-0 Weymouth - good win for the Rams over the league leaders
Chesham United 7-0 Staines Townas is so often with the hapless Staines, the scoring pattern was quite bizarre; with Chesham 6 up by about 30’ and notched the 7th in injury time.
Farnborough 3-0 Hendon
Frome Town 0-1 Hartley Wintney Frome will almost certainly drop a level, with already relegated Staines – the final relegation place between Gosport or Walton Casuals, with Basingstoke also looking dodgy, only a point further away.

Poole Town 3-2 Basingstoke Town
Swindon Supermarine 1-0 Metropolitan Police
Walton Casuals 1-2 Tiverton Town
SL1-C
Aylesbury 0-3 North Leigh – rare win for Nor Lye drops Aylesbury to bottom place – Kidlington & Dunstable Town in some danger of being dragged down – but I think I’ve read earlier this season that North Leigh have already expressed their intent to be allowed to drop back to STEP05

Didcot Town 2-2 Kidlington – Diddy currently in 5th – the last PO spot but a number of clubs are in range and chasing hard – including Thame.
Peterborough Sports 3-1 Aylesbury United
Thame United 2-1 Berkhamsted
SL1-S
Fleet Town 0-3 Melksham Town – Fleet relegated – probably to Wessex but possibly the CCL Barnstaple were already voluntarily going back to the South West Peninsula league and Slimbridge are in some danger of dropping out too – they were hammered 1-8 by Mangotsfield, who were only a point above them before the match.

Larkhall Athletic 1-0 Highworth Town
Paulton Rovers 0-1 Thatcham Town
Winchester City
1-3 Bristol Manor Farm – as above - City fluffing their lines somewhat with a surprise reverse against lowly BMF.
Yate Town 1-4 Blackfield & Langley att 430 – saw leaders B&L pull 4 points clear of their nearest rivals with a comfortable win – both have three games left.

CCLP
Abbey Rangers 1-2 Sutton Common Rovers - win confirms SCR will almost certainly finish 2nd behind Chertsey
AFC Hayes 1-3 Spelthorne Sports
Badshot Lea
1-0 Colliers Wood United
Balham 4-4 Camberley Town
Chertsey Town
5-1 Southall
Cobham
3-0 Horley Town
Guildford City 0-2 Raynes Park Vale

CCL1
Bedfont & Feltham 4-6 Epsom & Ewell
Chessington & Hook United 1-2 Godalming Town
Dorking Wanderers Res 3-0 Bagshot
Eversley & California 3-0 Kensington Borough
Farnham Town 1-3 Frimley Green - confirms FG will finish at least 2nd and could still catch leaders Sheerwater as they have 2 games in hand
FC Deportivo Galicia 2-3 British Airways
Fleet Spurs 2-2 Sandhurst Town
Sheerwater
3-1 Ash United
Tooting Bec {SEVEN} 7-1 Cove

HELLP
Ardley United 1-4 Lydney Town

Brackley Town Saints 2-1 Brimscombe & Thrupp
Flackwell Heath 2-1 Wantage Town
Reading City
2-1 Longlevens – respectable crowd of 82 see City live for another day
- They travel down for the reverse fixture next Friday – a mid-day KO as it’s part of the holiday w/e Hellenic Hop

- Tbf this isn’t something I’d normally go anywhere near – hugely inflated crowds, many of them paying scant attention to the game in front of them – discussing the last match they’ve seen or the next one they are going to – usually includes crowing about feats such as finally getting to Little Ballswick’s Reserves in the Outer Trumpington Subsidary League on Thursday night, at a ground ‘one must get to before Lidl bulldoze it.’
- not knocking the occasion at all, as ‘Groundhop’ people work really hard behind the scenes to plan and set all these up: all the clubs involved get a badly needed influx of cash - they often produce progs/badges etc done for this special occasion etc.
- however, personally, being inherently a grouchy anti-social ol’ Foccer  – I’d far sooner see these clubs in their ‘natural habitat’ in front of a couple of doz. die-hard locals.
- In normal conditions you’d get the chance to chat to the 85 yr old groundsman/gate-man/barman - and listen to how he played for the club when he was 14 and would prepare for matches having a rub-down with the Sporting Life and a pint of Stout!

Tuffley Rovers 0-3 Shrivenham visitors on an incredible run of 15 wins from 16 in the league since mid Nov – had they started slightly better following promotion last season, they’d be right in the mix for the title.
- Having visited their Barrington Park venue on several occasions, I’d doubt very much they are anywhere near grading for promotion – expect this success may have taken them all by surprise

Windsor 2-0 Bishops Cleeve – hosts now up to 7th – 3 games left - outside chance of managing 5th – welcome the ‘Heathens’ to Stag Meadow on Tue night. Easter Matches at Lydney (Good Fri : 15:30 KO so also a Hop game ?) and home to Wantage
- Top three as you were – all suffer away defeats

Been really getting into a sunday league team from south london called se dons..... founded by a grime artist and made up of semi pro's and ex academy (zak ansah from arsenal for example) they are a youtube sensation. And a VERY good team with great videos. I went yesterday to the kent senior cup final which they won, in Maidstone. Equivalents of the berks and bucks cup final so a good standard. Over 2000 people were there which is insane for a sunday league team..... they have a very big following

I suggest giving a few videos a watch. Especially last year cup final vs cortez (one of the country's best Sunday league teams) where they turned them over 5-1 or something.

Check out their 3rd goal from the keepers kick.

Windsor 6-0 Flackwell Heath

Wow! Superb performance. Another hat trick for Dan Roberts, 1 for 16 yo Jack Gibson and 1 for 46 yo Barry Hayles. Bet a 30 year gap between goal scorers doesn’t happen very often!

... finishing the season well there RR - could yet pull the rug out from under Wantage's title bid too - whom you entertain on Easter Mon.
By then they'll already know what they have to do; as 2nd placed Brimscomb & Thrupp are bound to get three points from their last league game, at Home to lowly Abingdon Utd, on Sunday evening and temporarily at least take over top spot

Wantage could have made things clearer cut with a win tonight at home to 3rd placed Brackley Saints but in front of a crowd of 193 were held to a 0-0 draw

A win for B&T would leave the 'Freds' still needing a point from their trip to Stag Meadow to grab the title on GD

A defeat for both of the top two might even hand the title to Bishops Cleeve, who would need to overcome Shrivenham in their last game at home in the Mon 11:00 KO. - providing they have won their Sat game at Ardley - which is no 'given'.

Shrivy's astonishing run of late finally came to a halt at Binfield on Monday as Roger's lads handed them a 3-1 defeat.

Elsewhere Chertsey were confirmed as CCLP champions with an easy win 1-3 at AFC Hayes.

I trundled up to Beaconsfield 1-1 Merthyr Town - the Southern League Premier South game needed to be re-scheduled from a couple of weeks ago, when the Martyrs ' coach broke down on the M4

On Monday I nipped over for my first visit of this season to Larges Lane and watched the lodgers in action

HELL1E Wokingham & Emmbrook 2-1 Penn & Tylers Gn

...the 'Sumas' bade farewell to Bracknell Town FC as they are due to play at home next season at their newly floodlit Lowther Road Ground. The cabling for the lights is going in this week apparently.

Not much on tomorrow night (Wed): another Reading Senior Cup S-F at Scours/Rivermoor sees AFC Aldermaston take on Wallingford Town, for the right to play at The MadStad, against the winners of the 2nd S-F due next week (I think) at the same venue : between last years finalists Reading City & Wantage Town.

I've been there twice recently so might forgo the 'pleasure' :P and instead pop down to another fairly serviceable venue: Cody Sports & Social Club nr Fleet - for an Hellenic Div 2 game between Yateley United and Stokenchurch.

The hosts are tweeting that Hart Council have finally agreed in full their development plans for the clubs' 'home' ground at Sean Devereaux Park just beyond where CCL1 club Eversey & California play (Fox Lane).

'Silly Season' is also now in full swing where non-lit clubs try and beat the sunset/gathering gloom and KO as soon after 18:00 as players and official can manage to turn-up. Often leads to somewhat farcical conditions even allowing for Refs playing 'short-halves' to beat the darkness.
A few games on tomorrow in the Oxford Senior League and N.Baaarks has started to schedule some too. Though with a relatively dry winter/spring this season there are nowhere near as many games to catch-up as there were in 17/18.
