- got along to the Racecourse to witness the 'Yellamen's' 2nd successive home league defeat (2-3 vs the Kroonerites) - both defeats since returning to play on their new 3G surface.
- Visitors Camberley were measurably improved from when I saw them get battered at Baggy Lea a couple of months back. Ascot looked stale in midfield and rarely troubled a somewhat erratic young keeper in the away goal. Their big CB, who has the prodigious throw, went off with a very nasty ankle injury midway through 2nd period - thus removing their usually very potent Plan B.
- Cambo defended doggedly late on when up against it - conversely Ascot were sloppy and paid for it : the visitors pinched a winner in stoppage time, having trailed early on, then led, only for Lalustani to level in the last 5'. With this win, Camberley leap up to 2nd spot behind Ascot - taking 16 points from a possible 21.

- Calam Gallimore (just arrived this week on dual reg. from Marlow) -'sin-binned' for the hosts;
- 10' before the break, marksman Josh Howell off for veteran front-man 'JJ' Jemel Johnson.
...was seriously considering going to this earlier in the week but only because the League site had the KO as
19:00 - turned out to be an error :roll: - was a standard 19:45 start which would have impinged upon my drinkininininge 8)

Bracknell just aren't at the races so far, really no excuse for it given the firepower at their disposal.

Not sure what the current state of play is as I've not been at the club for a couple of weeks now but something certainly isn't working, we are so inconsistent. Like I have mentioned previously the club do not want to be promoted this season so that might be the thing that keeps the manager in the job.

Good to see Basingstoke Town getting results under the new management and clawing the way off the bottom. Still dire situation off the pitch mind you.

...slightly harsh view bearing in mind they are trying a squad re-build of sorts - their most recent form isn't too shabby (ignoring the Trophy exit)

10 pts from last 6 league games - two defeat to two decent sides (Westfield & Chertsey) above them - who are both well up the form table too.

They travel down to Woking tomorrow night to face Westfield in the Velocity Trophy Group 5 game - wouldn't read too much into the result either way but I suspect it decides the winners of the group (with one more group game each and Marlow in with an outside chance. )
All 10 Group winners progress to a 2nd Round KO stage which includes the 22 Isthmian Premier joining at that stage.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Elsewhere tonight, Windsor came through their League game at Scours with a 1-0 win over Reading City and move temporarily above Binfield in the table up to 5th, behind City on GD.
Windsor have played more games than all the sides above them and 4 more than Binfield - who come to Stag Meadow NEXT Tue (29th) .
...can't decide whether to take on the M25/M40 tomorrow, for the 'Magpies' replay at Wealdstone - Parking has always been a *&^% around there - though I've not been for about 6 1/2 years - remember the last occasion: they whumped Lewes 6-1 whilst we were on TV pushing the 'Prawn Sarnies' all the way in the FA Cup 5th Rnd in a Monday Night Live game.
- plenty of alternatives - I'm not working Wed/Thu this week so could go further but doubt I'll leave work in time tomorrow to feel like being too adventurous. Depends if I can get some surreptitious kip in the big Departmental meeting in the PM :wink: 8)
...best of the rest could be a dash a bit further round the M25 to the not exactly grandly titled 'Orbital Fasteners Stadium' :? for Kings Langley v Leiston
Reading City 0-1 Windsor
I only got to this game with about 10 mins left of the 1st half, when Reading were already down to 10 men and Windsor were 1 up.
Jeez, we made hard work of it. We had 20 shots to their 3 but didn’t add to the scoreline. Should have won by 5 or 6 but just couldn’t put the ballin the net.
The ref and lino missed another red card in the 2nd half. Our guy and their defender running for the same ball, ours slowed down as he reached it and the Reading fella pushed him over. We see it happen all the time, could have been a yellow but no big deal. Our guy (who is as quiet as a mouse and a bit too mild mannered for his own good) got up and walked away, and their guy turned round and clumped him one. This was right in front of the Windsor fans who were somewhat up in arms but pretty politely really (the foul mouthed ones weren’t there! :lol: ) and a couple of Reading players hurled all sorts of abuse at us in a rather aggressive manner. The cads.
The guy who did the clumping got a yellow.
All part of a night’s fun but from what I’ve seen over the last 2 or 3 years Reading City do seem to specialise in recruiting total shitcunts.
Decent crowd of 160.
Trigger happy Kayne is going to run out of options soon isn't he?
Yeah got the impression this was on the cards as previously mentioned. There was something that just wasn't right about the team, not sure he had the trust of the players. This isn't about Bracknell not being first in the league, they genuinely do not want to go up until they are in their new ground. This is more a style of football thing along with player power imo.
Well, it certainly sounds like Kayne wants things to change and has sacked him because the team isn't the team he had previously, before he sacked the last 2 or 3 managers!
Bracknell Town FC On Sunday we parted company with Sam Lock as first team Manager.
Why the decision was made.
It has become very clear in recent weeks fans have stopped following us in large numbers.
Home league attendances:
Game 1 – 352
Game 2 – 286
Game 3 – 254
Game 4 – 243
Game 5 – 197
We have lost our teams identity, we no longer out run our opposition. We do not out pass our opposition and we no longer shell it in the channel and squeeze for second balls.
We need to urgently re establish the teams identity of play.
They are honestly better off just giving the job to Tallentire again, he is the only guy the chairman really trusts with the team. I may apply myself to be honest.
...first Half-Term w/e and the destination could be anywhere - mate's been a bit 'crook' early this week - he even missed the PNE game - so need to check he's recovered
- if so I suspect he'll probably want a long haul again - still not keen on Barnstaple myself - they are at home again
EDIT: PP- and I think the weather forecast for Sat is crap - heavy rain in the West up to early PM?
Quite fancied the much delayed Vase tie at Bovey T - which is almost the same distance - but they aren't in one of our 'targeted leagues'. :roll: Will probably decide sometime Sat morning
Whitchurch United PP Andover Town - passed inspection in the morning but deemed unplayable by the match ref
- we decided to avoid all of the wet staff that had happened out West.
- indeed all the games that way on our 'new' list fell foul of the downpours as expected. With heavier stuff forecast mid-late PM, we weaved our way round a very sluggish Orbital clockwise, then round St Albans across to the A1(M) and up to jn10 north of Hitchin for a look at one of the South Mids new boys:
Shefford Town & Campton 2-6 Winslow Utd
- was 2nd vs 3rd and conditions played a part. ST&C had also been walloped here 0-4 by another of the more 'experienced' STEP06 sides of late, so maybe they are still finding their way now they've stepped up from the County Leagues.
- seen the visitors at home once before on a day the game was abandoned at HT due to adverse weather. Thought it was going to be deja vu as the drizzle worsened and heavens opened just before H/T. Fortunately eased enough for the game to finish and it appeared to be a pitch that drained well - no standing water in evidence.
- came back across to the M1 via Hitchin & Luton: slow stuff nr the M25 jn but OK from then on back home by about 18:30.
Windsor 0-5 Binfield (when I left).
Well that was absolutely abysmal. Not happy.
...Oh dear result didn't look good - 'Moles' twittersphere purring about their own performance - not sure a Mole can 'purr' - probably growls, squeaks or 'rumbles' :mrgreen: - puts them back up to 3rd.
- nearly went to SM myself but opted for the game a junction nearer, at The Gore.
Burnham 2-0 Reading City - Mitch Parker back in the fold at 'City' but they looked strangely ineffective going forward, even with him in alongside 'local' striking notaries Marcus Mealing and Adam Cashin-Murray.
- 'Blues' worked much harder without the ball and restricted the visitors threat - particularly notable as Burnham were reportedly without FOUR keepers thru injury/suspension and had relatively diminutive striker Dan Molloy between the sticks. Actually he spent a lot of the game well outside his area howling at anyone that would listen. Doubt that would have been tolerated in the old 'Highmoor' days - without 'something' befalling him. :?
- 'City' are, in playing style a different outfit and have lost a lot of their forebears bite & niggle - though they still dished out a few hefty challenges - more out of determination than intent to harm. In the end their rather muted approach gave Blues a valuable three points.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
... was a VERY busy night elsewhere, with most of our 'local' sides in action in Trophy or League. As I have earned a couple of hard-earned days off from work during H/T; to generally slob around/eat the wrong things/drink too much (and most of the FoCcers Famille are scattered to the Highlands with the other non-Ringer now off at Uni ) - I thought I might as well provide a fuller review/bore the cr@p out of you all 8) :lol:

FA Cup 4th Qualifying
Haringey Boro 0-3 Yeovil

FA Trophy 1st Qualifying re-scheduled/replays
Banbury Utd 1-2 AFC R&D
Hayes & Yeading 2-1 Wingate & Finchley - host Soham Town in 2nd Qualifying Round on Sat 9th Nov
Poole Town 0-1 Hartley Wintney - ex-Robin Adam Cornell with a late winner puts 'the Row' thru to 2Q and a tie a bit nearer home over at Westfield(Woking)
Sholing 2-0 Marlow - 'Blues' undone by 2 Red cards - Boss Bartley was sent to the stands too as the game got very fractious late on - reportedly even with reduced numbers Marlow were hard-done by.

Swindon Supermarine 1-4 Thatcham Town - possibly result of the night as 'Kingfishers' upset a side doing fairly well in the division above them: Were 4 up on 33' : two goals from Tooze; another from Tennant and one from Barcelos. They travel to another STEP03 side Enfield Town who play at the QE2 stadium, on Nov 9th.

NAT
Boreham Wood 0-0 Sh!ts
Maidenhead Utd 1-1- Fylde att 1010
Woking 0-4 Notts County - 11 games without a win now for Cards, who've dropped to 8th
NATS
Dorking W 0-2 Oxford City
Slough 1-0 Welling - att 630 'Rebels' bounce back from shock defeat at Oxford at the w/e - Ben Harris on 74'

IL1-SC
Hertford 2-3 Chertsey Town - 'Curfews' up to 3rd with games in hand on leaders Harlow
Staines Town 2-2 Hanwell - 'Swans' were leading 2-1 going into stoppage time and looking to grab their first three points for yonks (edged past Frome 1-0 on the 9th March last season) but 2nd placed Hanwell, levelled on 90'. The point is enough to haul them off the bottom above Northwood on GD.

CCLP
Badshot Lea 1-3 Ascot Utd - 'Yellamen' stay 4 points clear at the top - 2nd placed Balham not in action
Frimley Green 1-1 Abbey Rangers

Abingdon Utd 2-1 Long Crendon
Didcot Dev 3-2 Abingdon Town
Penn & T Gn 2-2 Holyport

(Mon 28th) HELL1W
New College Swindon 0-10 {TEN} Malmesbury Vics
- featuring this one 'cos I hauled myself out here after work - play on an outside pitch adjacent to Supermarine's Webbswood Stadium.
- result much as expected and a series of heavy defeats continue to rain down on the poor 'Stundents'. GD of -68 after 9 games.
- oddly enough they do play some pretty neat, decent 'on the floor' stuff but just aren't strong enough at the back. The 'Vics' keeper actually had to pull off at least half-a-doz respectable stops and NCS deserved something for their efforts.
- Their own keeper isn't up to much but then allowing for what is in front of him, his tentative/nervy/jittery performance is a tad understandable. By stark contrast his opposite number kept up a noisy stream of invective throughout, to keep his team-mates going - some of it a mite disrespecting towards NCS and he was told off a couple of times by the officials - but he certainly kept his defence in good shape.
- 'Vics' are big, strong and effective and could possibly get promotion to the Premier this year. This result puts them on top of One West; though the expansion of the division to incorporate a glut of ex- Midland league clubs - in particular the Hereford-based one's - might see them squeezed out of contention.
- 5 of the top 7 are new to the Hellenic this season - if you include former members Pegasus Juniors - now returned and tagged Hereford Juniors.

WESSP
Alresford Town 2-0 Hamble Club - leaders recover from their mauling at Fareham on Saturday
Tadley Calleva 0-2 Fleet Town
WESS1
Alton 2-2 Fawley
Laverstock & Ford 0-2 Whitchurch Utd - 'JamBoys' currently 5th.

...with my time off this MW and no hindering 'domestics' - I'm attempting a longer trip tonight - hoping to trundle over to 'Glawster' to check out the visitors and current leaders in the HELLP:

Yes, Binfield were impressive. Apparently they have a couple of players from Bracknell and from Marlow so have bolstered their squad very well.

I will enjoy the Vase day (and the Eastbourne Ultras and their co-ordinated drumming / singing) on Saturday but not sure it will be as enjoyable an outcome for Windsor as when we played them at their place a couple of years ago.

Old Man Andrews
Hoop Blah
Old Man Andrews Yeah got the impression this was on the cards as previously mentioned. There was something that just wasn't right about the team, not sure he had the trust of the players. This isn't about Bracknell not being first in the league, they genuinely do not want to go up until they are in their new ground. This is more a style of football thing along with player power imo.

Well, it certainly sounds like Kayne wants things to change and has sacked him because the team isn't the team he had previously, before he sacked the last 2 or 3 managers!

Bracknell Town FC On Sunday we parted company with Sam Lock as first team Manager.

Why the decision was made.

It has become very clear in recent weeks fans have stopped following us in large numbers.

Home league attendances:

Game 1 – 352
Game 2 – 286
Game 3 – 254
Game 4 – 243
Game 5 – 197
We have lost our teams identity, we no longer out run our opposition. We do not out pass our opposition and we no longer shell it in the channel and squeeze for second balls.

We need to urgently re establish the teams identity of play.

They are honestly better off just giving the job to Tallentire again, he is the only guy the chairman really trusts with the team. I may apply myself to be honest.

Have a guess what Bracknell have done...... :D

Whilst we all doubtless hang on tenterhooks for news from Larges La - though I know cos I've look at 'Football in Bracknell' :P
...here's a brief snippet of Vase news ahead of this weekends' 2nd Round ties:

- having finally got their much washed out Round One tie played away at Bovey Tracey - which was even then shifted up the M5 to Willand - Abingdon Utd were, much as expected, dumped out 3-1 by the South West Peninsula League side.

However waiting patiently for the outcome, were prospective next round opponents Hamworthy Utd - based just across the swing-bridges from Poole.
They are tweeting tonight that Bovey T have been thrown out of the Vase and that they will now be travelling up to the Northcourt to visit the re-instated Ab Utd. :D
Nothing to back this up on BT's nor AbU's social media accounts yet.....that I have found

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As intended I trekked over the other side of the M5 to watch the Hellenic League Leaders get another three points in a close fought affair at Saw Mills End winning 3-1 @ Longlevens.
Easy to see why Westfields are unbeaten and pulling clear at the top: they do look to be something pretty special going forwards. They are also strong at the back and are rumored to be paying a fair whack to an ex-Wolves defensive midfielder who ties everything up in front of them.
In spite of all this 'levens gave them a decent game before tiring badly late on.
Saw Mills is not high on creature comforts - their Portakabin bar/tea hut does it's best and the ground has a narrow bus-shelter like seated stand.
Chatted convivially to a a nice ol' fellah from round those parts who 'hops' when he can. Crowd was just under 70 - a few hardy souls had schlepped on over from Hereford.
The club official on Kettle duty before the game offered me a free-cup of tea for travelling from Reading - I paid him a £ anyway and advised him to put it towards some Bovril or Cup A Soup :mrgreen:
