Old Man Andrews
Royal Rother
Old Man Andrews You're full of criticsm for I assume unpaid coaches and managers but are offering no solutions.

Speak to the club, do something proactive, come up with ideas.....

Ideas about what?

Despite having been invited to “get involved” I have zero interest in doing anything other than turning up and supporting the team home and away as I have done for the last 10+ years - even that became a struggle last season and now, particularly after a 6 month break, it is even more of a struggle.

That is all part of the fun though surely? The struggle is all part of the romance of being a non-league supporter. I remember as little as 10 years ago standing in the pouring rain at Bracknell Town watching some of the worst football known to man on the worst pitch in English football thinking it doesn't get any lower than this. Fast forward a few years later and they are a totally different club and I have no doubt in a few years they will be at a Slough Town sort of level (provided they get through the COVID era). Things will turn around for Windsor, I am stunned given the location that nobody has come in to buy the club and build it up.

Oh this is true (the ups and downs) and I accept that but feel “qualified” to comment on what I see. It does after all have an impact on enjoyment and the level of desire to drive to bloody Gloucester on a cold winter Saturday afternoon or Tuesday evening... (

But no potential investor would consider getting involved while we still don’t have a frigging lease.

And God yes, the Bracknell pitch was horrible back in the day. Burnham and Beaconsfield were similarly bad.

Thing is, the one thing Windsor spend decent money on is the pitch - it is a thing of beauty all year round (especially commendable considering the number of matches played on it) but the upkeep costs circa £1k pm.... maybe the time is coming where we have to bin that vanity project, and give the manager a budget (and a shit playing surface!).

Ash United 2-3 Jersey Bulls - ‘Bulls‘ are still 100% in the league both last season and this: but results do seem to be getting closer -
- Ash led 2-1 @ H/T with the visitors down to 10 men. Game settled with a free-kick in the 89’
- Jersey still unlikely to play at home for the foreseeable but are soldiering on – presumably when push comes to shove, they’ve either got to resign from the league or find a temporary base on the mainland.

Easington Sports PP Westfields - reportedly positive COVID test within the home squad
Fairford Town 1-1 Royal Wootton Bassett Town att 124

Got round a blissfully uncluttered M25/M20 to the eastern side of Maidstone for Southern Counties East Div One game
- Greenways 1-2 Lewisham Borough
- played in a new-looking multi-pitched sports complex nr the suburb of Ditton.
- ‘Hosts’ are currently groundshare Tenants – the ‘Landlords’ are K Sports (Cobdown) formerly known as Aylesford Paper Mills – re-branded in 2016. Greenways are originally from up nearer Faversham/Gravesend and were formed as NALGO in the mid 60’s.
- Large Bar was open and previous hoppers have raved about the food but was none was in evidence today – even the Burger Van was locked up. No programmes either. :|
- Not that bad a game in fairly chilly/blustery conditions on a 3G surface – visitors won very late on

Looks like Macclesfield are no more. Expelled from the league due to massive tax bills. Shame to see this happen and suspect its the first in a veeeeeeeeery long line.

Must be shit for Macclesfield fans. I hope they get a phoenix club together and rise up the leagues, soon.

Slightly brighter news

Winchester City won 5-1 Mangotsfield Utd. Cracking game as you would imagine. Two up after 10 mins, and all over them. Should have been 4 up by half time but went in 2-0. The real Man Utd came out brighter and pulled one back early in the second half but we scored again soon after that. At 3-1 we got a very dodgy pen. Their keeper saved it well, but gave away a corner and we scored from that. Fifth was late on. Felt sorry for their keeper - he didn't deserve to concede five, and had to put up with some nursery school level "bants" from a bunch of pissed student prats behind the goal.

Next up for us is Bath City in the FA Cup. They're step two, so that's probably the end of our unbeaten start this season, but we won 4-1 two years ago away at Merthyr and are playing well at the moment. It'll be Bath's first competitive game this season too (I think), whereas we've played 4 games now and are on a roll. Shame we can't go - Bath has some excellent pubs apart from anything else.

Someone was following all the games on their phone and reckoned we are top of the league tonight, on 2 wins from 2, plus 5 goal diff. We've one two cup games as well. Taken together with Reading's start, it's been a cracking football season so far.

The scores are in. WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE 8)

It was nice while it lasted. Totton won 5-0 away tonight and go top on 7 pts but have played one more game than us.

Basingstoke won too. Last minute penalty for the winner. They're third, with 2 wins from 2 away games. Not sure what's happened at Basingstoke, they were very poor last season and were second bottom when it finished. Good to see them contending now.

....a certain Mr Brett Williams with a brace for Totton.

Didn't fancy the wet stuff tonight so sofa'd it - meant I dodged a 0-0 @ Farnborough, albeit my other possible choice at Chesham tonight, ended Aylesbury Utd 4-2 Wantage.

- watched Sandhurst battle in vain down at Farnham last night (Tue) L0-3 - although spirited they were comfortably 2nd best as the table would suggest they might be. Think they have a completely new line-up now they're in with Bracknell as was suggested elsewhere. Fairly certain the Team Line-ups on the white board , didn't quite match the players out on the pitch. Looked a very young outfit but not without some promise.

Plenty of midweek stuff to round-up but I'll try and do that tomorrow

Ex-tenants - they'll be back in B'stoke this season, I believe. The Hampshire FA ground seems to be nearly ready for them.

They've played at least one game at Reading City this season.

But, yeah, top three are all Hampshire and local to me. We're away at Totton next. That's always a biggie down here, but more so at the moment with us being neck and neck at the top.

The word is Totton have money to spend this year. Their team has a couple of Winch's better ex-players. We'll see, next Tuesday.

mx Must be shit for Macclesfield fans.

With your tenants right behind you

Ex-tenants - they'll be back in B'stoke this season, I believe. The Hampshire FA ground seems to be nearly ready for them.

They've played at least one game at Reading City this season.

But, yeah, top three are all Hampshire and local to me. We're away at Totton next. That's always a biggie down here, but more so at the moment with us being neck and neck at the top.

Yeah - they are nearly there - couple of weeks to go - be good to have them back and I think crowds will significantly pick up for them.

Some great attendances - that would of been a good sight at East Cowes Vics - always found them a very friendly club and enjoyed refereeing there, less so Newport IOW - chairman (rip) was horrible and considering it is my home town, not very enjoyable!

Four Of Clubs Saturday 3rd October – weather forecast is grim – so expect a few ‘washouts’

76 Bath City* (6S) v Winchester City (8SS)

Shame we can't go to this, but it would have been an expensive day out in the fine pubs of Bath.
Still, it's being live streamed, and I have a box of Sherfield Village Brewery's stonking 6.3% IPA to work through.

Not sure how the game will go - the expected shite weather should be a leveller, and Bath haven't played a competitive fixture yet, so it may be closer than you would expect.
