Brackley Town Saints {EIGHT} 8-0 Burnham - from some random snippets I've picked up it seems the side put out a week or so back that won impressively at Scours have now suffered several key absences which might explain the two subsequent reverses.

Not surprised there are some absences.

I am told people don’t want to play for him. He and his coach came across as loud mouthed tossers with no respect for their players when Windsor played them.

A couple of biggish non-league sides are in trouble at the moment

Dulwich Hamlet http://www.dulwichhamlet.org/
I am still on their message board, having joined when they played Winch in the Trophy last season, so I've been following this with dismay. An average crowd of 1,500 is pretty impressive and they are top of the Bostik at the moment. I may even go to their game on Saturday, which they are targeting for a fund raising effort.

Likewise Merthyr Town http://www.merthyrtownfc.co.uk/

Big shame to see such well supported non-league clubs struggling.

Merthyr in serious danger of going bust seven years after reforming as a members club
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/wales/42025972

Lost 13-1 at Chesham yesterday after fielding the youth team.

Original club reached the football league before folding pre WW2

I guess its difficult to run football club in the valleys

HeinzGuderian Bracknell hitting firm. Bloody hell.

... indeed their recent run includes results that read like a sequence from PS FIFA: a 6, two 7s, an 8 and now a 9 !

In some context, if it needs it, is that the '8' was against a STEP07 side in the Vase, the '9' yesterday vs Cheltenham Sarries from mid-way in the Div One West STEP06 and the two 7s vs lower level Premier sides - one of whom rarely keep 11 or even 10 men :shock: on the field.

The Robins are not scheduled to be in action next w/e, nor the following midweek; they then have a Vase tie on Sat 2nd Dec, away at (STEP05) Lordswood - who looked pretty durable when I saw them beat Southall last week - though were put on the back foot for long periods, by the side from the level below them.
Unfortunately the side from Kent prevailed; as I believe Southall might have provided a better spectacle - they are very open and score plenty, with a current league record of 14-1-0 and a GD of +47!

Then on the 5th (Tue) there's a mouth-watering prospect at Larges La when in-form Windsor come a'calling. 8)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
... and just by way of an apologetic self-publicising update on 'FoCwatch' :- for those who've asked above :mrgreen: :wink: ....
[MALDON] If only I'd known, there would have been a pint at the bar for you... Whereabouts were you standing?
.... thanks for the offer :oops: - though I was driving so usually stick to halves - grabbed one before KO - spent latter part of 1st 45' over in the main stand, opposite the clubhouse and from memory went back there for most of 2nd Half. Don't think I had a drink in the interval - sampled their pre-packaged Tomato Soup but suspect it had been stored too close to the 'hot' Vimto - was definitely a study in 'what the f^$& does this taste of ?'
[BURNHAM] Funny, I thought FoC might be here and saw a culprit who I thought might be you, even though I have no idea what you look like! Loitering by the exit corner flag near the end?
... I was the unkempt looking individual in the shabby brown coat 'loitering' as you say, down by the turnstile, in injury time - was there roughly same time end of first period - I like to time the dash to the bar for H/T especially when they've got Rebellion on. :P
Sonks sent off for Harlow Town yesterday.
(Feds and Shlong aside) anyother of the 05/06 squad still playing competitively?
Sidwell is still at Brighton isn't he and believe Harper is still involved in NL somewhere.
Is Lita still without a club?
Wouldn't say no to getting Lita back at the moment.
Sidwell is still at Brighton, just been injured for ages and will probably retire to a career of punditry soon.
Looking at the 05/06 Squad List:
Graham Stack is at Eastleigh
Simon Cox is at Southend
Jamie Young is at Brisbane Roar
James Harper is at Hendon
Nicky Shorey is a coach at Stevenage but I think is still registered as a player
It had to come to an end but bafflingly brainless performance last night in the 2nd half.
Windsor 2-3 Abingdon Utd.
2-1 lead at HT having played with a very strong wind. 2nd half we were under the cosh from early on and very few of the many goal kicks and clearances reached the half way line - when the ball hangs up in the air it is far easier to come onto the ball so we just couldn’t get any momentum as it just kept coming back at us.
Yet we added to the pressure by regularly passing back to the keeper inviting more and more pressure because he couldn’t get it out of our half.
Not once did we play it out from the back. We have a number of players very comfortable on the ball and desperately needed to keep possession away from Abingdon; why we didn’t use our heads and play some football is completely beyond me.
A shame.
Ascot lost 2-0 to MK Dons in the County Cup, so Windsor will be at home to the winners in the Qtr Final.
Looking forward to that one. Might actually draw a crowd.
... fairly busy midweek - though crap traffic conditions restricted my options to just the one trip out and a very local one at that, on the Monday evening - cross-town to Rivermoor/Scours where I watched Thatcham demolish a strangely supine Highmoor.
A few selected Results from w/c 20/11
NAT
Brpmley P-P Aldershot - floodlight failure
Eastleigh 2-2 Maidenhead Utd - Magpies led 2-0 going into last 10' - conceded on 83', had a man sent off shortly after and a pen on 92'
Sutton 0-1 Torquay - Gulls off the bottom as they upset high-flying Sutton
Woking 1-0 Ebbsfleet
SLP
Banbury Utd 2-2 Slough Town - pondered this but early-eve S->N 'ding routes were gridlocked - centred around Caversham and the alternative route along and up the A34 was a dark-red colour on the traffic maps. Thus I 'sofa'd' it and 'watched' the news coming in from the Macron and Seville with a nice mix of relief and megalulz. 8)
Chesham 0-0 Farnborough ... and this would have been my 2nd choice but Handy Cross was reportedly bunged up too so I dodged a 'nils each'.
SL1E
(Wed) Aylesbury Utd 0-2 Hartley Wintney
Bedford 0-1 Beaconsfield Town
SL1W
Winchester City 3-2 Swindon Supermarine - 88' winner from the spot by Jamie Barron - his 2nd pen in the match
HELLENIC Prem
(Mon)
Binfield 3-1 Burnham
Highmoor/IBIS
0-6 {SIX} Thatcham Town
- as mentioned, got to this - hat-trick from Liam Ferdinand - recently transferred in from Bracknell, Early on a pen taken by Shane Cooper-Clarke was well saved but Shane put the rebound into the Dodgems, currently being 'stored' outside the ground in the Car Park :lol:
(Tue)
Windsor 2-3 Abingdon Utd - as above - must admit to being slightly stunned by this one but Ab Utd held Flackwell in their previous game so are starting to show signs of making a fist of the Premier league this time around.
(Wed)
Brackley Saints 2-0 Woodley Utd
Highworth 3-3 Longlevens - leaders held, giving some impetus to free-scoring Thatcham and Bracknell who are 6 and 8 points behind. Thought about trundling over this but there were reports of some serious hold ups westbound and then north from M4 jn 15 around Sw!nedon :evil: enough to put me off.
Fleet's players and supporters had a wasted PM. I doubt there were many fans that made, what is a real git of a journey. AthleticoSpizz a Did You Know moment?
Ady Williams used to manage Bedford Town FC
...true dat - March - October 2010 - actually kept them up 09-10 but poor start and early defeats in the national competitions for 10-11 saw him walk -
- into a brief spell at Diddy - (c. Jan - May 2011) :mrgreen:
... also not many outside of the deepest folds of the Anorak would be aware that adjacent to Bedford Town is McMullen Park, home of Bedford FC - formerly Bedford & Valerio - who currently sit down at STEP06 in the Spartan South Mids One.
Sadly for the fans of Fleet Town yesterday, they couldn't nip next door for a consolatory match, as they were away!
... and finally .... some Bedford-related NL trivia:- Bedford Town (known as The Eagles) were usurped last season as the highest placed Bedford-based side in the pyramid by AFC Kempston Rovers - who play across town on the opposite (SW) side of the ring road to 'The Eyrie'
