He’s a northerner so would probably feel at home

He’s from Lancashire (least Manchester was always in Lancashire before they started inventing those stupid urban conglomerations up there). So probably not overly keen on feeling at home in Yorkshire.

It’s all north, can’t be that different.
It’s not like he’s a Whitley boy making the move to Coley.

As someone whop lives in Lancashire, I can assure you, it is very different. There is also bitter distain between those from 'Yarkshire' and the glorious county of Lancashire...

Crowbar6753 So i guess its being reported that a couple of significant barricades towards the sale of the club have been lifted so something must be going on behind the scenes whoever that may be. I would also like to thing that if things are progressing that the said party would be communicating to the players as surly it would be in their benefit to keep this team together and not inherit a team that's just been cherry picked and will plummet down the table.

I fear they will have heard these fairy tales too many times before to be duped again.

Depends who is telling them these stories this time though. If it is coming from the mouth of the potential new owner, something which they might not have heard before, maybe it will give them the fight and desire not only to stay, but to push on...

Yes, I do live in a glorious fantasy land of pixies and unicorns...

Don`t believe this for one moment, but it would be madness bordering on lunacy to let our only goalscoring striker to go.

But then the way this club has been run for the last 7 years rather suggests it should change its name to AFC Lunacy

We may not have the choice if selling Smith is the difference between the club surviving or going out of business........

Good news in the main, but you just know he'll get another hat trick when we visit.

First time I have ever heard of that website - doesn't make it untrue though of course.

Them and Birmingham are the only clubs in the division who could afford and attract him imo, and I can't see many Champ clubs wanting to spend money on him, pick him up on a free sure, that's different.

If he goes, we know the finances were truly oxf*rd, because we have no one to replace him. At all.

To be honest, any agent worth their salt should be trying to get their players out of this club.

Don't think I agree with that. Most of the good players can happily see out their contract and expect at least a decent sideways move with a solid signing on fee. And opportunities are always better in the summer

To be fair, I forgot most of our squad is out of contract in the Summer. God we are oxf*rd one way or the other if the takeover doesn't happen before then.

We must be able to offer new contracts to existing players? even on a short term deal? if we can afford a manager on a three year deal we should be able to renew contracts.
If we cannot replace out of contract players and we cannot buy new players then we cannot put a team out next season and be competitive!!

We can replace players up to having 23 players with at least one professional appearance

Given the number of Academy debuts in the last 2 years I would imagine the club will be well over 23 players in the eyes of the FL.

Currently, we're on about 35, but we won't be when all the contracts run out in July.

Yes it’ll be down to 6 or 7 on July 1st but I’d suspect many of the youngsters will re-sign in the end. Just have to wait and see if we still have a club for them to rejoin.
