SPECULATION - Nile Ranger

by Adz1871 » 18 Jun 2011 09:14

Transfer listed by Newcastle after failing to convince Pardew that he has a future at the club. Yes/No?

This bit is interesting.

Someone must thing he has real promise:

Ranger signed a new five and a half year contract on 3 December 2010, keeping him at the club until 2016

Only had 5 starts in two seasons but a whopping 44 sub appearances. Suggests they are building him up.

Another Shane Long where "appearances" can be misleading

19 of his appearances have been 01-15 minutes
13 of his appearances have been 16-25 minutes
09 of his appearances have been 26-35 minutes

1 (23) League 3 (1) Cup 858 Minutes 1 Goal v Chelsea and 2 Assists. Also won penalty at Arsenal after skinning CB
4 (21) League 3 (2) Cup 927 Minutes 2 Championship Goals and 3 Assists

So 1785 Minutes, 3 goals, 5 assists, a penalty. Directly involved in a goal every 198 minutes.

If he's not got off-the-field problems or injury issues looks the sort of player a good championship club
could develop into something very good, but he might be a bit out of our reach.

Does he have a free or is he for sale at 1.5 M?

YES if no fee, and sensible wages. Has Premiership pedigree.

That recent 5 year contract should say something

Well informed as usual...

Any time he has come on the pitch he has upped the tempo. His strength, height, ability in the air and his quick feet have caused problems for Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and many other teams this season.
He is 19 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches in height and has the potential to a Premier League class striker if not more.

Pardew says he could be top-class

but apparently he has a bad attitude, is lazy, and then there is the gun-pose incident.

No, I don't think he's quite the player we need, he's still learning. Although he's got a GREAT name!

He was transfer listed because of his poor attitude. No Thanks

Agreed on the attitude now I've learned a bit more.

It amazes me how some people can piss it up against a wall

Not sure about him but did see they may let Leon Best go which i would jump at the chance to get him.

I've always rated Ranger - can't see Reading signing him though...

We're down to 1 Icelandic player now though, and that is not enough, Alfreð Finnbogason maybe?

Premier League pedigree? In what sense?

I wouldn't want him here if they paid us, let alone money going the other way!

He's free, he's young, he's the sort of player we like to work with. Might happen.
