I did some googling and put two and two together.

Anton zingarevich is on the board for multiple companies = entrepreneur

No huge persona wealth = in 2004 his father states he doesn't have the resources to buy a football club

History in investment management = says so on his LinkedIn profile

Multiple investors = clubs own statements

Convinced madejski = clubs own statements

How much money is an unknown = we have no idea how much money he's managed to pull together

Don't think he meant big in terms of the mass of the player

Basingstoke-Royal Why would they accept £2.2million from us when they rejected £3million from West Ham?

Maybe West Hams £3m was based on appearances and promotion etc.......£2.2m could be straight up hard cash

Yeah, really big, two sentences at the bottom of page 64 saying Reading could move for Billy Sharp

Reading stealing in ahead of Leicester and Fulham for Billy Sharp is not big then? I'm sorry it's not Didier Drogba.

No I'm not picking up on it because its Billy Sharp I'm picking up on it as this supposed "big transfer" story isn't any more than the speculative rumour that is already in this Forum and therefore could be no more than a bored hack copying drivel after hearing about our take over. The piece didn't even say Reading WILL move for Billy just that we could.

Ian Royal
melonhead nice classical reference pun

probably wasted on these philistines

Can't believe I missed that!

As long as we don't turn up to a match one day and just see a pair of feet in the centre circle I guess.

This is food for thought - I think this is probably right. If I had to guess I would say that TSI is a group of investors with Boris his old man as lead investor (unless his old man has just given him the chunk of cash). This could mean a bit more fiscal prudence than the transfer rumour mills are currently suggesting as there will be a number of investors that want a return rather than a slice of a personal fortune offered to make the son happy.

Either way I am encouraged by:
a) The fact Madejski sees it as a good move – yes he is a slave to money but his ego and genuine good feeling towards Reaing would hate to see his good work dismantled
b) The comments from TSI
c) The fact Kenwright suggested Zingarevich has an encyclopaedic knowledge of football
d) The fact Zingarevich has links with Reading

Who would you sign?

by marcusopp » 23 Jan 2012 10:16

With a bit of cash in McD's wallet now he's got the opprrtunity to strengthen the squad.
I reckon we could do with a centre back (as cover for Gorkks and Pearce), a centre mid (our youth players aren't quite ready and he doesn't fancy howard) and a forward (we've got ok forwards, but not a 20 goal/ season player).
What do you reckon?
