Mr Angry If we are looking for a Premier League experienced striker, Stoke have 2 that they may want to off-load; Kenwyne Jones and Cameron Jerome, either of whom would be solid additions to the squad imho.

Jerome is Championship quality, but Jones yes please, although is supposed to be off to Wolves.

TheSiege Feds has served us admirably over a long period and, if he makes a mistake, he is the sort of guy who will hammer himself to do better. Otherwise, you can't play 'what if's'. Our defence got us into the Prem, but are now being found out. There will probably be dodgy refereeing decisions in lots of games from now on but - that is how it is! The best strategy is to score enough and concede little enough - so that dodgy decisions have no impact! Currently the squad does need a couple of extra top-quality players to ENSURE that we don't go down. At the moment, some fans are simply downplaying us and hoping!

I don't know if you attempt to come Accross this way deliberately, but you really are a deluded and ignorant person. Our
Defence aren't getting found out. We have played two games, one of which we wouldnt have conceded if it were not for a freak GK mistake, and another where we were against the champions of Europe. One goal of that shouldn't have counted, one was a penalty (albeit from the SINGLE defensive mistake all year) one from a long range and another where everyone was trying to win us a point in the last minute.
I for one think we have the quality to succeed and are showing enough after just two games to prove we will just about survive.
Obviously you, though, think otherwise and have to bombard this whole website with your single droning thought that "we need one or two more"

If that's true then I fear for us this season.

I think MCD is being a bit naive this season. We are still two quality players short IMO.

Agree with you there Sieve. What with Blackburn's sound financial footing and sensible owners who are actually willing to spend money by the bucketload rather than pick up free transfers like Pavel Pogrebnyak I can see them winning the PL in a couple of years.

I think we should stop feeling sorry for ourselves for not signing lots of stars - look at Cardiff, they've signed no-one ...

..................Pog.........Le Fondre..................
McAnuff......Guthrie......Leigertwood......McCleary
Harte...........Gorkss..........Pearce..........Gunter
........................Federici...........................

Subs: McCarthy, Mariappa, Hunt, Shorey, Kebe, Ayew, Karacan

Ayew (I know its unlikely). But I'd be very happy with that squad, we gave Chelsea a very good game, so theres no reason why that can't challenge the other 14 teams in the league bar the top 6. Even if we do give the top 6 games like we did Chelsea. :D

People will always want one or two new signings. If we buy in the next day or so can almost guarantee someone will claim its not enough and demand another signing. The squad is decent, no weaker than most in the lower half, whether we stay up or not will come down to which of those squads makes the least mistakes.

I thought we had done alright to be honest with the business we had conducted, but now I am not so sure. I guess only time will tell, but when you look at the money QPR are throwing round, Sunderland are buying big. I am just wondering a little if we will look a bit lighweight in the coming months. Even NCFC are apparently in for CMS (his head rears again, not that I would want him!!), can we really say we are happy with what we have?

Thing is, I think the thing a lot of people miss is that, with footballers, you're not buying a "known quantity".

You cannot say "if we spend £"x"M it will add "y" goals, or prevent us shipping "z" goals - what you're actually buying is potential, and that potential is not always realised. Andy Carroll anyone? His transfer fee to Liverpool translates to a little more than £3M per goal - I'd argue that (although Liverpool overpaid in the first place) he hasn't reached his potential at Liverpool.

It's all very well to talk about QPR, Sunderland, Southampton, Norwich etc spending more than us, but there's no guarantee that their money will see a return...in many cases it may well not (CMS hasn't exactly set the World on fire at Brighton - is he really worth similar money to what WBA paid for Long? I doubt it.).

With us, Brian has told us he knew what his targets were, and got them (I believe that there's a large degree of truth to that). Much better that than running around with 36 hours of the window left throwing money at "potential" to keep the fans happy.

As Brian would say, we've brought in players that add to our "group", we've done it early, and we've not created any "egos" by making late, extravagant, moves in the market....

I'm pretty happy with where we are myself....
