Wrong forum dude! You need the 'Hunting, Shooting, Fishing and generally torturing small animals' website. Don't come back - I'm an animal lover!

Zingarevich & Hammond flew back from Portugal last night after no doubt having a meeting with McD about our woeful striking in pre-season.

Have they flown back to pay whatever it takes for a proper Premiership striker like Defoe?

McDermott said he'd give the players a chance to shine in pre-season, so the next four games might be quite crucial in his decision making process. Failure to score a few, which is quite possible given the level of opposition we have left, might persuade him that he needs to sign another striker/creative player.

Here's hoping. Anyone who thinks that Pogrebnyak/Hunt/Roberts/Church is going to cut the mustard as a top flight strikeforce is utterly deluded.

That probably speaks for itself in terms of how likely I think it is that he will make the step-up.

Yep, agree with that.

Pogrebnyak and Defoe combination would excite me however.

Is it any worse than Holt/Morison/Jackson/Vaughan/Martin? Or Graham/Lita/Moore? Or Bendtner/Wickham/Ji?

Pogrebnyak and Roberts are proven at that level, and Hunt is an adequate support striker who will chip in with a few. I don't see why ALF shouldn't step up. For Church, see Shane Long two years ago.

A lot depends on the service as well - already in the Championship this was often lacking .... Guthrie in the middle should help. Question is will our wingers cut it in the Prem?

I do think we may end up getting a new winger come Jan, much is yet to be discovered with how they will copy and Kebe is not exactly mr consistent

Kebe will play better without three players constantly marking him and being injury free.

I think ALF will make step up given the chance. In the second half of the season he only had small amount of playing time but still made a great impact with clinical finishes...

Is he as good as Defoe... clearly not - but a strikeforce of Pog, ALF, Roberts and defoe would be perfect.... Hunt can be team motivator from the sidelines ( ) Church can go elsewhere
