Tokyo Sex Whale
southbank1871 I think anyone doubting the club's appetite for spending serious cash on the right player should probably STFU shouldn't they?

Yeah, when we actually buy a player.

I could go and offer £15m now for a house that's on the market for £25m; doesn't mean I have/or am willing to spend it. It would just placate my nagging wife in the short term as she stupidly thinks I have the intention of buying a huge house.

N.B - I dont have £15m, or a wife. Unfortunately.

For football just replace house with player and wife with mongdiv supporter.

So you don't think Reading had any intention of spending £7m, but made a bid well below what they knew Blackpool would accept, in order to plac8 Big Ern, cmonurz and jellytot?

It's a ridiculous analogy anyway as players (unless transfer listed) are not publicly advertised for sale at a certain price.

It would be laughably naive to assume we'd bid an amount for a player that we weren't actually prepared to pay to stop a bunch of fans from whinging.

Tokyo Sex Whale No, i'm not saying that. I am saying we don't know the full details of the offer.

So, what I am saying is - Until we actually spend some money I think those moaning that we haven't spent the money are within their rights to do so.

In your house buying analogy you are saying just that.

I'm just glad they rejected the bid tbh, otherwise it could have all got a bit embarrassing when they actually asked for the money.

I thought the rejected bid was 6.6m yesterday and have made another bid for 8m this morning? Have they rejected it already?

Am I hearing it right that the bid's been rejected?

And that we've withdrawn the bid?

My guess is by withdrawing offer, you hope to focus the players (ince) mind, and if he is keen to speak to us, he will slap in a transfer request, forcing Blackpools hand.

Tokyo Sex Whale I think it makes sense to make and publicly withdraw.

If we leave the bid on the table all it does it set a bar for other clubs to offer above. (Especially as we know a club like Liverpool may be interested)

By publicly withdrawing the offer it leaves less demand for the player and thus the price is less likely to be inflated above our original offer.

Swoop back in with an hour of deadline day left, make Jim White cum his pants and secure the player for a slight increase on our original offer.

:( :( :(

Is there any confirmation that we've actually withdrawn our bid?

Nothing but SSN announcing it, I would not be surprised to see a bid go in late Wednesday night.

I think the only reason we have declared our interest is to disrupt the player, and put the PL idea in his head.

Kudos for Blackpool turning down money and keeping their best players instead of grabbing the cheque and kicking folk out the door like they had AIDS.

Reading given a slap on the wrist, negotiations to continue away from the media?

Of course, it's always possible that we have another target in mind, and by publicly ending our interest in Ince it demonstrates a commitment to A N Other (whoever that may be)?

IMHO Blackpool are waiting right to the end of the window to see how much they can get, I imagine this will go down to the final wee hours… If we have withdrawn, it's just so BP can't keep pushing the price up, and BMD going public is merely to turn Inces head at the thought of playing in the Prem. I doubt Rodgers is seriously interested as they have Coutinho now... just hope Arry or Southampton (who seem to be after an attacking mid) don't swoop in

This.

A bit  at the whole thing, really.

A bit gutting that when we find a player we're willing to spend £8m on we can't close the deal. Oh well.

jellytot We probably knew that our offer would fail. Will be interesting to see if we have another go.
Perhaps ince has said no to us? Imagine if they had accepted! Hammond
Would have had heart failure!!

You whinge on and on and on about how we're not prepared to spend any money. Then we bid £8m for a player and you make out that we don't expect or want it to be accepted.

You are a bloody fool and a timewaster and you need to fuck off from this site, please.

If that's what actually happened.

I don't think we're willing to spend 8 million on anyone - especially a Championship player.
