Rumour - Sebatian Boenisch

"Sky Sports understands that Everton, Reading and Newcastle are all considering a move for Poland international Sebastian Boenisch, who is available on a free transfer after rejecting the offer of a new contract at Werder Bremen."

Left back - can play right back I think, not sure though...

Seen him a few times - looked tidy.

Have you heard of Wikipedia?

Ex-German U-21 player with plenty of Bundesliga experience.
Would fit the mold perfectly.

Can't say i've seen too much of him, but has fairly decent credentials. Presume he is leaving Bremen in pursuit of regular first-team football?

Wasn't he one of the less impressive Poles at the Euro's... a bit wasteful in possession. Or am I getting him mixed up with Obraniak?

Not that a couple of games are particularly reliable as a guide. We definitely need at least one new full back IMO.

Played in the Germany u21 side that beat England 4-0 in the final in 2009 alongside Ozil, Khedira, Boateng, Neuer, Hummels... Marko Marin who has just joined Chelsea couldn't get in that team, albeit in a different position.

World Soccer's profile of him before Euro 2012 said he had not long returned from over a year out with a knee injury - presume that was why he was struggling for games at Bremen. Do recall him coming in for a bit of criticism during some of Poland's games but that doesn't mean a lot - as Ian said a couple of games aren't a particularly reliable guide. Be an interesting signing given he is free and we may have less need for Harte's set pieces if Guthrie makes the side regularly. Why pay transfer fees if there are decent freebies to be had? (By decent I mean good enough - don't want false economy to come in to play!)

god no, been terrible every time I've seen him play. The fact he couldn't get in the side and was realised by a Bremen team that were shocking this year speaks volumes.

Seems like a handy player. At a good age. Seems quite tall for a full back at 6 ft 3 but that cant be a bad thing.

I think Rhodes could be the only player we actually pay for this season, if so would have done very well to secure the services of POG, mcleary, guthrie and this guy for the grand price of £0

Wheres all the money gone!

Moneys going into wages!

Spending our resources on our own team rather than financing other teams is a great strategy, and it worked for the last four years. We could never have afforded the weekly wage bill to beat Leicester last season, if it wasn't for them chipping in!

Wasn't too impressed with him at the euros I must say.

Though did think he looked quite a bit of a unit which might help us out in the PL.
