One piece of transfer news we didn't see was that TheWearing has now left Twitter.

Libertine I wouldn't be as concerned if the teams I considered to be in a very similar position to us hadn't greatly improved their squads.

Spot on.

We greatly improved ours a month ago. Southampton have waited until the last day. So be it.

We've still added more players to our squad than they have, and we finished aboved them last season, yet you won't find Saints fans whining tonight.

People talk about a 'statement of intent', but how often do they actually end up being beneficial. Chelsea tried to do it with Torres, Liverpool appeased their fans by spunking a load of money on Carroll etc.

We do smart thought-out business, not reactionary business.

THIS!

Who do we look at now as being weaker than us? I'm struggling.

Can't think of any tbf...

And to think we could have got someone like Clint Dempsey for a mere £6M...but he is off to the Spurs. Meanwhile the clock continues to tick...

Dont worry - you will hear the quote soon that having Kebe and Roberts back into the squad injury free will be like a new signing!

But so have we, we just strengthened our squad earlier.

That's a weak, weak argument.

Southampton signed Rodriguez, Clyne and Davis before the season started. West Ham signed Diame, Maiga, Collins and Diarra. QPR signed everyone. Wigan got Ramis and Kone. And so on. We weren't the only team who signed players in July and early August.

Oh, and if we don't strengthen in the next hour then this time next year we'll be watching our best players leave in the window, not wondering who will come in........

The trouble is our smart thought out business seems to leave us little room for manoeuvre, if the rumours are to be believed.

I know it is mainly media hype but I would sooner we didn't get involved at all than keep pulling out of potential transfers because we won't meet the fee. If we had targetted these plyers in the first place we obviously wanted them.

That is not how we will give ourselves the best chance of survival, I was sort of hoping the Anton way was going to be different to SJM's way.

Yeah, good signings by Southampton in the shape of Rodriguez and Clyne. Not sure about the West Ham signings. Caroll should help them. QPR, who knows, massive gamble basically throwing a whole new team together and hoping they gel.

You forget that those clubs also lost players. We didn't.

And I think you are seriously undervaluing the players we have brought in.

This is an even weaker argument. We weren't the only ones to sign ANYONE, of course, but we signed more than anyone else did.
