Not sure why this is in Rumours and Gossip when the club have confirmed they made a bid.

Anyway, on the Transfer Intel thread I stated on 31/1/13

RoyalBlue The odds of success that McDermott was citing last night made me think that it might either be Sidwell or Sig we were after. I reckon we might have that 40-50% chance of pulling either of those deals off. Working in our favour is the fact that I suspect both players would be happy to return.

Anyway, as I so often get told I've got things wrong, I'm going to point out that at least I called that one right!

Its interesting that when this broke it was assumed we had agreed the deal, but just couldn't persuade the player. Now its come out as Gylfi and we made 3 seperate bids... and we were waiting until 11pm... it looks like we knew he wanted to come back. McDermott obviously knows him well enough not to waste his day bidding on a player who doesn't want to come, the stickign point would be spurs squad depth and plans for him. With a realistic aim of a top 4 place, they have no need whatsoever to lose players on deadline day and risk injuries losing them a CL spot.

But IF we stay up, then surely this would seem very likely.

But thats obviously a massive if.

Graham should shut down HNA on TDD and teh build up to it. All it does is encourage the retarded to post drivel and the mean to post wind-ups to keep them frothing.

Andre Villas-Boas reported on SSN website Obviously he's a player that means a lot to Reading.

But he's a player that we rate very highly, we brought him here after his amazing contribution (on loan) for Swansea last year and he's a player we have high expectations for.

Probably this season, at the moment, he is not going to the level he wants, but he's a player that we believe a lot in, and in his future here.

We couldn't allow him to leave.

Gutted not to get him, but really pleased for Gylfi that he is highly rated at Spurs. Makes me feel proud

14M for a player that has not featured a lot for them. Much as I would have loved him back that is too steep.

It is incredible (if true) that we even considered paying 12M.

Wouldn't read too much into that, he wasn't going to say "we were trying to get someone else in, but it didn't happen, so we're stuck with him to warm the bench for the rest of the season"

+1

Don't think he has much of a future there at all.

16th most used player in the league this season for Spurs.
Not exactly surplus, not exactly a regular starter.
Sounds like a sellers market. If we stay up expect another bid, but I do think Rogers may also be in with a bid.
However - regular football does matter to some (Butland for example, who allegedly turned down Chelsea for Stoke).
Expect another 200+ page thread starting if we stay up.

He has made 30 apperances for Spurs so far this season so not exactly surplus to requirements. Also they have only named 23 players in there Premier League squad so it would have been nearly impossible to get him (one of the 23 is David Bentley! )
