Sky Sports understands a number of clubs are weighing up moves to bring former Blackburn Rovers defender Zurab Khizanishvili back to England.

Khizanishvili, who is currently plying his trade in Turkey with Kayserispor, is out of contract at the end of the season and would be available on a free transfer.

The news has alerted a host of clubs to his avilability with the experienced Georgia international an attractive proposition on a Bosman.

Norwich, Leeds and Reading are all thought to be keeping tabs on Khizanishvili's situation as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season.

Canaries boss Chris Hughton is aware of the defender's abilities having worked with him during a short spell on loan at Newcastle and he is keen to add some experience to his side at Carrow Road.

Reading know all about the 31-year-old after he enjoyed a spell on loan at the Madejski Stadium during the 2010/11 season, while Leeds boss Brian McDermott is a big admirer of the central defender having worked with him during his time in charge of the Royals.

Would love this. He was utter quality for us, the last game aside. Come back Zurab!

Pointless, paper talk.

Never go back.

Especially for a player whose performance was the worst ever in a Reading shirt at the new Wembley (except perhaps Grif)

Meh. Had we not gone back for Ady Williams, chances are we wouldn't have got promoted out of L1...

Zurab + Mariappa/Gorkss last year = No goals conceded all season.

Yep. Far from convincing loan. Superb perm signing. Disappointing loan. Perhaps three times was too much.

Report seems to be a rather lazy attempt to link him to any club or manager he has previously played at or for.

However, it's spurious link time

1) Former Soviet citizen like AZ
2) Aged 31 like AZ
3) Wife is a model like AZ.

I can see this happening, and if it did, I'd be pretty happy with it.

there are some idiots on twitter saying "we can do better" and "they can keep my season ticket if they bring him in".

WTF?

we need 5/6/7 new signings. pearce will go, gorkss may go, we need at least one left back, maybe two, one maybe two central midfielders (one creative), maybe a replacement for an outgoing winger, two strikers at least... if we do get a rather ambitious £6m budget, then it aint going to go very far this summer and there needs to be some bargain free transfers as well, and ZK would be one of them.

get real people. who do you expect we'll sign that's better?

Looking forward to possibly witnessing his brilliant baldy patch and Berbatov-esque touch skillz next season. In.
