Pure Speculation - Word from the ticket office today is that we are chasing Dwight Gayle from Peterborough.

Any one else hear this?

Just bumped into the Head of Welfare showing someone around town and looking at flats etc. He reckons we are looking at Gayle again...anyone else heard this?

He'll cost over £5m, can't see it happening.

However, we were looking at 2 strikers (Donaldson & Beric) which together would've cost near £5m. Now SC said he only wants one forward, perhaps he's just simply putting the fee for 2 strikers into 1. Still can't it see it happening.

Quotes from Palace saying he's in their plans and not going anywhere, and alsoBournemouth showing interest. Can't see much point in taking him on loan unless it was for the season (and can't remember what the rules are for season long loans either !)

They've just loaned in Bamford so they have quite a few forwards.

Rule is that they are allowed - like Bamford last season ...

Wasn't sure whether there was an age criteria - had to be under 24 for example (like Bamford....)

I'd rather we tried to get Fraizer Campbell if we were going to take one off their hands. Maybe a tad unrealistic though!

if we were to go for anyone from Palace it would be Appiah, but apparently he's now out for the whole season with an ankle injury

Given that Murray clearly didn't want to be here last season Clarke would have to do quite a sales job on him if Palace decided to release him. It would have to be a sale not a loan as well and whether that would be of interest for us given his age must be questionable.

I would take Cambell or Gayle I think if murray wanted to be with us he would and for the fee he would probably need he wouldn't repay it in the time he has left playing

Of the lot, I'd take Gayle in a heartbeat. We have a couple of big men in Pog and Sa so Murray while better than what we have, is not the style we need; Gayle is quick and direct and can, if needed, play wide in a front three. He's also a great age.
