Well, Hammond couldn't organise p*ss up in a brewery, so I doubt him being there would've done any good to our chances.

Are you completely stupid, Hammond is probably the best example of a Director of football presently working in this country.
Just look back at some of the deals he has pulled off in the past.

And some of the ones we lost through his dithering.

Name them.

Because it's better for a night out than Reading by a country mile.

Congratulations, that's 1. Although it was more Rodgers fault for not finding an alternate target when he didn't fit the finances and blabbing constantly to the media about him.

John Mensah is the other one I think you could maybe lay at Hammond's feet, but given how little we actually know about what happens behind closed doors it could just as easily be Coppell or Madejski.

Basildon Can't see this one happening. He is definitely good enough for the prem, can't see why he would drop down a division.

Pochettino.

That's why.

My Southampton supporting friend (who's dad is colleagues with one of their sports scientists) says this is likely to happen tomorrow. He's not one for bullshit but I just can't see it.

Would not surprise me to see this one happen especially considering what we have seen so far with the 3 new signings.

It appears Southampton are trying to go down the big spending path and bring in foreign players and Lambert may not be considered the future, especially at 31 years old. I am sure he could get another Prem club, but would likely be one of the newly promoted teams who may struggle so his relationship with NA could swing it for us.

If there is substance in this, I hope we don't pay a massive fee for a 31 year old.

Pardew will definitely be in there should he get a whiff that Lambert is available

31? Would rather give Blackman a chance. Makes you wonder why we let Noel Hunt go as well.

Pards doesn't call the shots now though - he has to go through Mental Joe.

Do you honestly think that Pards would sit there and work under some plonker and have no say in the team he is putting out?

Hes not the sort of manager to take the easy option. He certainly wasnt when he was here.

Even Joke inear could see the potential in Ricky Lambert surely

I know there are rumours that Soton are now fishing for Leandro Diamao (seriously Spurs if you lose out to Soton, you might as well sell Bale now!), something which I would have  myself at, if they hadn't pulled off the Ramirez transfer. I can't even remember seeing anything that said that Lambert was unsettled so I am not sure where the speculation has come from.

Joe Kinear has sent scouts to look at Ritchie Lambhuna. The Scouts were rather confused so they have gone to france

Not sure that can be classed as a "correction"

Hypothetically would we even want him?
