SPACULATUON - Chris Eagles

by TBM » 05 May 2014 23:38

Released by Bolton

Could be a decent replacement for Jobi

Good player at this level but WCBAP in the sense that he will probably want some.

Shame that getting someone "on a free" only refers to not paying a transfer fee and not them playing for free as well. In my day (and at my standard) we'd pay for the pleasure of playing.

Thought he was about 33/34. He's only 28. It's a yes from me.

He is one of those players who seems to have been around for ages.

Would certainly not be a bad signing at all.

Yes please, but I can't see us bringing anyone in until a good few go out first. Also Boro want him. Better move and still up North. I'd rather we offered the likes of Jakes Taylor and Michael Hector contracts before we look elsewhere.

If we lose McCleary to a good offer he'd be a useful addition. I think it would mean no McAnuff though (who would probably be a cheaper option and less of a gamble perhaps if he'd take a one year deal).

In an ideal world we would offload Robson-Kanu and Drenthe, keep McCleary and McAnuff plus add someone like Eagles. Can't see that happening though.

Once Pog, Williams, McCarthy, Guthrie, Bridge, McCleary, Alf, Gunter, Pearce, Morro and Drenthe have all gone then we will

Hang on.

A player released by a club 7 places below us, who spent most of the season battling relegation is suddenly good enough for us?

I think he was released more for the fact he's one of their bigger earners....

Would rather we kept Jobi.

Sadly I suspect the reality will be that we will release Jobi and sign no one.

Not going to happen, by the time we get the ownership sorted out it'll probably be well into next season and anyone of any use will long have been signed up to play elsewhere. He'll no noubt score a hat trick for Forest, or wherever he ends up, against us next year or something.

I think the plan is that we're going to be quite a lot worse next season.

We don't have any money to pay his wages. By the time the dead-wood/family silver is moved on and a bit of money is available, anyone of quality will have already been snapped up by others.

We should all be expecting the worst this close-season, and in that way we may well be pleasantly surprised come the start of next season. THen again, we might not.

I'd rather have a player who's career is on the way up tbh.

I don't suspect that playoffs is a realistic target for us next season. Club will all it a consolidation season or a development season or something similar, but realistically I think we're mid table keeping half an eye on the relegation battle.

Hope I'm wrong, but once everyone leaves...
