Rumour - Karl Henry

SSN reporting Karl Henry could be on his way to us. I'd take that. I liked the way he put himself about in the Premier League for Wolves. Bit of a dirty bugger but I like that in a player. We need a Parky type player to partner Norwood/Guthrie/Kuhl in the centre.

Sounds like Hammond deal is off with his injury if this is true.

I can't see this, Redknapp has talked extensively about how he wants 6 or 7 central midfielders. He made a point of counting Henry (along with Barton and Faurlin) but not Jenas or Mutch.

On the other hand, we have five central midfielders, six if you count Akpan, more if you count Tshibola/Hector/Obita/Taylor. We absolutely don't need another.

Whilst we obviously need some steel in our midfield Karl Henry is a rather uninspiring choice by Adkins.

Yes he'll add some bite but he'll also add a number of horrendous tackles, a host of red cards and a whole heap of misplaced passes...

Adkins wont be ignoring other positions, but that midfield needs shoring up! Currently it offers no support to the defence behind it, and going forward it lacks the creativity we need - hopefully addressed with Norwood, and if Guthrie stays, we have both to give us that.

Crosby said a few days he hoped a 'few' more would come in before the window closes, so quite clearly we are looking at a variety of positions. And hopefully looking to bin a few too.
