Charles Watts confirmed Pogrebnyak is not on anywhere near that. Ferdinand is nowhere near that either. The players we released has saved us maybe £4m off the wage bill too.
haven't we lost about 8 million in parachute payments from last year though?
Didn't Anton use all the parachute payments as collateral for a loan for himself and his hockey business or did that never come out or was not true?
It seemed to me a lot of panicking and bleating based on a total misunderstanding. Parachute payments seem to be predominantly paid at the end of the season, so given what we've seen happen since, it makes most sense (and I think it may even have been confirmed) that we took a loan out during 13/14 for the 13/14 parachute payment because Anton didn't actually have a pot to piss in. That was then supposed to be paid off at the end of the season, but football loan companies being what they are, would have been for significantly more than the amount we loaned, so probably more than the parachute payment. On top of that we then had to pay costs (like tax) at the point our revenue streams stopped providing.
The Thais came in and paid off Vibrac and bought out SJM and Anton. We'll have just received the bulk of the 14/15 parachute payments recently. But then they drop by about £8m as brendy said.
