Summer Rebuild 2016/2017

by RoyalJones » 03 May 2016 17:21

Who will stay and who will go this summer?
This also includes coaching staff and directors as well as the players.
Do we include a lot of youth next season?
What budget do you think we'll have?
Who will be in the starting eleven come the first league game of the season?
Who deserves to stay?
And one of the most important questions is will McDermott stay for the potential rebuild or will he be given his P45?
Who would you buy?

Possible outs:
Norwood
Obita
Cooper
Cox
HRK
Hurtado
Kuhl
Williams
Sa

Budget no bigger than £5 mill
Barrett, Fosu, Samuel and possibly Tanner to make their mark on the team next year (Kuhl also if he stays but can't see it)

I would think that a lot of players you mentioned will be out the door:
Norwood (Big fan but doesn't suit the reading way with the high tempo that we used to play a number of years back and be successful)
Obita (I don't think he will be even though he is linked with Bournemouth)
Cooper (He'll get better and has potential but nowhere near premier league standard yet)
Cox (Contract end, good work rate but not good enough)
HRK (Only plays well when his contract is expiring so good riddance)
Hurtado (Hasnt learnt the language but would still like to see him)
Kuhl (I hope not but is a Norwood type player who maybe doesn't suit high tempo)
Williams (good player but lacks technical quality e.g. passing)

Norwood (I'd accept 4m for him)
Obita (I'd accept 3m for him)
Cooper (5-6mil)
Cox (Free)
HRK (Free)
Hurtado (I'd accept 500K)
Kuhl (Free)
Williams (I'd accept 2m)

Youth Players for next season:
Stacey
Kuhl (if he signs contract)
Tshibola
Fosu
Tanner (bench)
Samuel
Barrett
Moore (bench)
Keown

I wouldn't put them all in to the lineup straight away except Tshibola and Fosu but slowly integrate them in to the squad

Starting 11 could include:
4-5-1
GK - Al Habsi
LB - Obita
CB - McShane
CB - NEW DEFENDER (if Cooper goes, maybe someone Mariappa who is reasonably faster than Cooper)
RB - Gunter (Or Whittaker)
CDM - Quinn (if Norwood goes)
CDM - Tshibola
CM - (someone more advanced like Piazon but slightly more defensive and has more strength, a driving force like Williams but looks up when they get the ball)
LW - Fosu
RW - McCleary
ST - NEW STRIKER (who can play on his own, someone like Wells)

OR: 4-4-2
GK - Al Habsi
LB - Obita
CB - NEW DEFENDER
CB - McShane
RB - Gunter
CM - Tshibola
CM - Quinn
LM - Fosu
RM - McCleary
ST - Kermorgant
ST - (Maybe) Rakels or a NEW STRIKER

Who deserves to stay?
Ferdinand (has been injured but he's reliable)
Cox (good work rate but not good enough, but then again, who isn't in this squad?)
HRK (massive ego; get rid even though he is good when he's in the final year of his contract)

And one of the most important questions is will McDermott stay for the potential rebuild or will he be given his P45?
He may be tactially limited but we need stability and he works with young players which I like so I have faith in him at this stage.

What budget do you think we'll have?/Takeover rumours:
The budget may not be as low as people think with rumours (just rumours) of a possible takeover! We need to actually buy players though this year.

Who do you want to buy this year?
What do we need?
GK (not needed but would be nice)
One or two full backs for cover
A CB (or two) if cooper and Ferndinand go
A centre mid who is more attacking
A winger or two
Two strikers

Contract expiry (frees):
Fabio (full Back cover or for first team but WCBAP)
Steven Whittaker (Full back cover)
Alex Tettey (First team in case a lot of centre mids are sold in the summer)
Adam Hammill (for an impact sub)

Buys:
The icelandic winger from Charlton could be available on the cheap
Zac Clough could also be cheap
Mariappa if he's not free
Roofe/Bradshaw/Wells
Kodija from Bristol City
McCarthy or Federici as they could come on the cheap and are reliable (not needed though)
A more attacking cm (any suggestions?!)

Loans:
NO LOANS OR MINIMAL LOANS THIS YEAR PLEASE!

Loanees from this year:
John (great but not worth the money because he is too inconsistent)
Piazon (Nope)
Taylor (if we need cover but he's not brilliant; but reliable)
Fernandez (idk because he was not given a chance; love his passion though)
Hector (may take him back)
Vydra (not worth the money even though he showed signs of promise in the previous seasons)

You think Cooper is worth twice as much as Obita?

Nah, Cooper is never worth 5m but I just based it on what I think Eddie Howe would pay for them if he come in for them both. He'd be stupid to come in now for 5m with Cooper. I think Howe will pay a hefty amount because of his age.

Obita
McShane
Mariappa
Gunter

Tshibola
Quinn

McCleary
Dack

I can't disagree with much of that tbh, I think Bradley Dack is the man that is needed to play in that CM/CAM role in front of Tish and Quinn. Selling Norwood, Williams and Cooper may get us just under 10 million if we're lucky which we can be used to buy consistent players which will give it their all like McShane and Quinn do. I would loan Evans out to gain experience if we're going to stick him on the bench though. Like the idea of Rakels being an impact sub, he's more than capable of that.

Very good individuals in there, but not good as a team, need hungry young players like Tshibola in the team. So this year we really need to buy some younger players from the lower leagues in my opinion. Brian is good at recruiting these type of players.

Royal Ginger He was sold.

However, even without Sa still being here we could generate quite a bit of income with player sales with the likes of Cooper and Williams likely to head out the door amongst others. Don't forget we still have Blackman's money and Hector's to play about with. Pointless though if the Thais are going to provide a minimal budget for us this summer and just take the income for themselves.

Meh, I would. I don't see the appeal in a bottomless money pit. They supposedly saved the club from administration meaning they essentially paid for someone else's mistakes. I'd want my money back, and don't begrudge them getting theirs.

their only hope to make money is to build infrastructure, do enough in the transfer market to keep us solvent and keep us in the championship, and hope that our academy can eventually propel us to the premiere league.

SJMs aren't exactly 10 a penny, and nor are the multi billionaires that are happy to throw money at it simply for the glory and kudos.
this is pretty much our future now, and I hope all of those 'SJM out', 'where has all the money gone' morons are feeling a bit silly now.

I work with some of Aaron Kuhl's mates and by the sound of things, he'll be off this summer. Apparently he's only been offered a one-year deal here and a longer deal elsewhere.

not that bothered,
youd think his dad would hold some sway, but I guess his first responsibility is to the boy and his security.
