Reading Coach Chris Davies

by bluerinse » 23 May 2016 09:13

Reading first team coach Chris Davies is being linked to a move to Celtic. He worked with Brendon Rogers at Swansea and Liverpool before joining Reading. Who do you think should replace him at Reading? Wally Downes or Kevin Dillon springs to mind- would anyone else like to suggest replacements.

Downes and Dillon spring to mind as probably not ideal.
Davies has only been here a very short time hasn't he ?
I'd look at what job he did, and what we need and find someone suitably qualified. That doesn't need to be someone who worked for the club before in some loosely related capacity.
But obviously Nigel Gibbs is the favourite to get the job.

Let's see if he leaves first.

If he does, though, I think we will need to bring in someone entirely new and not bring back someone who worked here before like Wally Downes.

Gibbs is now working with the U21's at Tottenham which in itself is a good job. Not sure he'd want to come back.

I got the impression that McDermott didn't fancy getting Downes back to the club when he was first available after getting kicked out of West Ham.

I don't think Wally's had another job since then has he?

He's been a huge success. This is terrible news.

Calm down to a panic, he hasn't left yet.

I'd get Ryan Giggs in as first team coach. He knows a thing or two about penetration. Something that was lacking last season.

It's a negative no to Downes, preferably not to Dillon and I'm not sure that's a good idea to Gibbs.

Gunnarsson on the other hand I'm massively in for.

I mostly agree with Nameless and Moorgate though. Some new blood who's well suited to the role that needs to be filled.

Yeah, because someone who's been out of the game for about 15 years would be an ideal replacement.

Maybe he can find a house for the next first team coach.
