Swansea, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are all interested in signing Reading's Wales full-back Chris Gunter, 26, who is available for £1m

Jeez and we could have got at least twice that before he signed his new contact, bizarre that we would lose 500k on what we paid forest if this is true. Villa seem to be linked with our starting 11.. :|

Sod off £1m, you'd struggle to get a decent replacement for that.

Why would we sell a full international aged 26 for £1million? Never going to happen unless he has a release clause ....

Sell! Sell! Sell!

Although Hammond would have fleeced the mugs for more than a million.

What is the source of this ****** awful journalism or is it just a made up load of b****x like a lot of the stuff in this forum?

A full international who has just signed a new deal with Reading for £1m when he's only 26 and we don't need to sell. Yeah, right!

....unless of course the only way we we could get him to sign that deal was to include a £1m release clause in the contract.

Whoever put a £1m release clause in Gunter's new contract needs shooting. That is an absolute joke for a top end Championship right-back who's been performing consistantly well at international level.

Unless it was the only way we could get him to sign, otherwise we'd have lost him for nothing this summer.

Awesome. Hope this comes to fruition. If Hammond were still here I'd want at least another £500k on that, but alas I fear our conning days are behind us. Anything over £750k IMO.

Top end

He bottled the Championship with Forest, he bottled the Championship under Adkins and he's spent the last two seasons drifting around above relegation. Top end championship right-back, my arse.

Would be sorry to see him go.
As said many times before we won't get better. He's a decent Championship full back

£1mil for a British right back who's made it to the quarter finals of the Euros and has 70+ Wales caps, even considering we're post-Hammond we can do better than that.

There is apparently a £1m release clause in his contract according to the media. If that is the case, then considering the deal was signed only a few months ago, one should respect Gunter a lot as he did not need to sign a new deal but his doing so at least guarantees that Reading will receive something for him.

Let's hope he has a blinder against Eden Hazard in the next round and his price soars so that yet another club believes that there is a good player there that they can get playing well week-in, week-out whereas we know that he is the classic "flatter to deceive" player just like his team-mates in the Welsh squad, Church and Kanu.

As there is a £1m release clause in his contract it wouldn't make the slightest difference whether he plays like Pele or like Ali Dia
