Rumour - Tommy Smith

by George_ » 18 Jul 2016 12:05

Fulham, Reading and Blackburn Rovers are all keen on Ipswich Town defender Tommy Smith, the Sun reports (Monday edition, page 51).

Smith's contract was thought to have expired last month, however, he appears to have remained a Town player, and Fulham are willing to pay £750,000 for his services, the report claims.

The Cottagers have offloaded centre-backs Dan Burn and Shaun Hutchinson this summer, potentially creating space for the New Zealand international.

However, Reading have recently allowed Anton Ferdinand to leave, while Blackburn pair Grant Hanley and Shane Duffy are said to be courting interest from elsewhere, leaving both clubs in need in Smith's position.

I will not believe this until Brother Rodgers says it is so.

He'll probably agree to sign and then join Fulham...

Would like to see him here, but I do not think we are in a position to pay £750000 for a player.

We just spent £500k on one, so would suggest that we have some cash to spend following the Tshibola sale.

mostly loan players gone. and weve replaced everyone that's gone with shiny new exotic sounding players
and we have a much smaller parachute payment this year, so it doesn't matter whats gone from the bill, we will still very likely lose money this year.
