I'm surprised that everyone is so happy about this. He's quick and strong and has potential to do well at this level?

He'd rather stay not playing for Villa than trying to resurrect his failing career with a club at the same level? That would seem to say alot about him....

Bit worrying if he was our main target. Been shite for years and a terrible attitude. Bullet dodged.

So we think Gyan was too fat - but go in for Gabby? Ok then...

Obviously now been getting desperate in going for agbonlahor then washington and being always limited to the cut price bargain bins seems to limit it even more

Should have signed gyan and had a striker in fit enough in a month or so rather than no one for 4-5 months

From Charlie:

Lots of rumours about Gabby Agbonlahor this evening.

Reports have suggested that the former Aston Villa skipper rejected a move to Madejski Stadium today.

Sources at the Reading categorically insist, however, that is not the case.

8 weeks isn't a month. 8 weeks from today is basically beginning of November. AFCON starts in January. We would have had a striker for 2 months with no guarantee he would be doing anything but getting up to match fitness for his beloved Ghana.

I would have liked to have seen him here. Hopefully he cancels his contract and we can snap him up as a free agent. A good, experienced player in need of a fresh start.

Pretty sure he can't do that otherwise there'd be no point in a transfer window.

think he can but only if Villa cancel his contract - sure they would have to pay him off which will be a few quid but if they do, he is a free agent and can sign for any club he wants
