I’m surprised he hasn’t gone already. Obvs clubs trying to get him as cheaply as possible and no doubts us trying to negotiate them up

Suppose that’s the downside with making it so clear to everyone that we need to get rid

Yep - but OTOH, if it isn't made obvious, then he might not agree to a loan - i.e., if he's still a member of the squad and thinks he might get games, he's got no incentive to move on. Similarly, his agent isn't going to be able to look for clubs if he's not allowed tell people his client is available. You can't drum up interest and simultaneously bid the price up.

Having said that, if there are a number of clubs looking at him, the competition between them may help with the financials. As opposed to a situation where we're begging a club to take a player (wonder how many are in for Popa for instance)
