George Puscas To Be Loaned Out

by Royal_jimmy » 23 Jul 2021 18:00

Very strange considering Meite is going to be out for most of next season. We'll need him.

An acknowledgement that he doesn't fit into the 1-up-top model that Pauno prefers? Given Joao's injury issues, it sure would be nice if we could manage two types of attack formations that could include Puscas and one other. Might also solve issues with other teams basically solving us by just taking Joao out of the game.

He’s probably one of our highest earners, possibly the highest earner of all (record signing, formerly of Inter Milan). He isn’t first choice. Getting him off the wage bill, and perhaps getting a loan fee, makes a lot of sense.

I do think we’re likely to receive an offer we can’t refuse for Joao, which could leave us in a similar position to… was it 2010/11? We didn’t need Matejovsky because Gylfi had come through, so we sold him, but then we got a great offer for Gylfi so we sold him, and suddenly we had no attacking midfielder and had to change formation.

Can only assume there is a decent loan fee attached to any move out for him, if he wants it and removes a high-ish wage.

May slow us to strengthen. Only the club will know the situation and what we need to do to bring in new players. Looks like this is currently a dead end anyway.

If Puscas is a top earner it's just another example of poor management of our finances given where we were when we signed him. And didn't we pick him up from Serie B as a 23 year old?

Shouldn't have been on huge money there... though it seems his last club had financial problems so maybe.

If this is true (and it probably isn't as it's Low, who has no contacts at the club) then its madness.

Joao is injury prone and already injured in pre-season so if Puscas goes we start the season with no fit strikers with any first team experience

Retrospective Wisdom is a fine art.

Puscas was "sought-after" when we snapped him up
and in the first game, with two goals against Cardiff
he looked a seriously good player.

But sometimes players just don't fit a system. Shame

I fancy this is a loan to sell in all probability, but Jeez does that makes us
(temporarily) exposed

You are right, of course, but maybe Azzez will come through, score 15 goals and got for 15 Million in January

Meanwhile, I will take my boots to games, "just in case"

Not really against it if we get some sort of fee and the wages off the books

Still got a couple of years of his contract after so if it goes well could go for a decent fee

Most sources I've seen suggest he's on £13,000 - £16,000 p/w

Signed for £6.5m 2 years ago, and now we’re willing to let him go out on loan?! Madness. Surely we’d be looking to recoup most of his value and sell him on instead?

Once again, mismanagement from the club and a lack of transfer strategy when he was signed at the same time as Joao…we didn’t need both at the time and had no strategy as to how to fit them both in.

Waste of money & again it’s coming back to bite us

Football Manager?

Salary sport.com reckons £16,000

https://salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-championship/reading/

Footballleaguefc.com reckons £13,000

https://www.google.com/amp/s/footballleaguefc.com/reading-fc-2019-20-player-wages/

And capology.com reckon £13,077

https://www.capology.com/club/reading/salaries/

At least I try to provide evidence to support what I'm saying, but by all means, you stick with FM.

I cant vouch for their accuracy but if all 3 are landing in the same ballpark, I'd imagine they're not too wide of the mark.
