Matchday and no official announcement one way or other - we all expect him to have left but it's one way of building the suspense before a match.

Will be a bit of a joke if the first official word of him leaving is the team sheet.

I'm not sure why no update has been given, just let the fans know if he is likely to sign or not, if they do not know, then just tell us that they don't know but at least let the fans know when the decision is likely to be finalised or not. At the moment, we have nothing.

Guessing a contract is still on the table, and it hasn't been signed or officially rejected. Hence no update.

Probably been able to go back to him with a bit more money on the table following Rafael's departure. Reckon Carroll will have a few offers though, all of which are probably more attractive than ours.

Or ... it's a cunning plan to throw Luton when he IS named on the team sheet. :?

Telling us negotiations are ongoing and a decision is likely/not likely to be reached in the coming days in an example of an update though.

I can only hope this is a positive sign, or that it just means he is still a supporter of the club he has most recently played for.

What is the cut off time for signings be able to play on same day?
I seem to remember something like if a club sign a player, they have until 12pm that day to allow them to register and eligible to play.

Pretty sure Pauno gave us that update last week.

We are now a week on ahead of a game tonight where he won't be playing as he isn't signed on during a window where there are only 4 weeks to do business. Regular updates should be provided, especially now he isn't eligible to play for us.

CLUB STATEMENT: Still no update on the Andy Carroll situation. As we said last week, we've offered him a contract and are waiting to hear back. He can't play tonight, but you already know that.

As he is a free agent, we don't need him to sign in Jan. Can be done whenever.

Maybe as part of the negotiations, it was requested that it be kept private?

"Whats the point in releasing such a pointless statement, the club never tell us anything"

I mean it would be quite fun if he is named in the team tonight when no-one expects it.

Guess it also keeps Luton guessing as they have no idea who will start up front tonight.

The club has said he has been offered a contract and waiting for a reply. Surely that means Andy should be issuing a statement as to when a decision is going to be made? Unless of course the club say "if we don't hear from you by (insert date) then we are going to withdraw the offer" Better, surely to wait for AC to mull things/consider other options without a deadline?

That’s true for all clubs with him isn’t it? Being as he has only played for us this season, he can sign for anyone outside of the window. So he’s prob just waiting on offers at the moment and could well still end up with us

Yes probably, it would just be nice to know some clarity on the situation as we are about a week and a half on from our "best offer" and, as far as we know, nothing has happened. Not sure it really helps the club either if Carroll is mulling it over as we go for other targets potentially as well etc.

There's absolutely no reason for Carroll to sign until the end of the window. If he gets another offer he's off, if he doesn't there's one on the table from us or potentially other offers as he's then a free agent.
