Stranded Wouldn't be too concerned if we offer him a new deal but wouldn't lose any sleep if we moved on and found another keeper.

Agree with that to be fair.

I don't think Ben Foster would be viable either. Would probably be asking for too much money and I think his YouTube stuff is probably more important to him than coaching, so he might not go for that.

It's difficult to think of another keeper we could go for, and I think the club are largely unconvinced by Southwood.

Pederson from Birmingham looks good for an LB, or I think we could tempt Neil Taylor for a season.

blythspartan Anyone think we should offer Nyland a deal? I know he had the howler against Luton but we’ve had worse goalkeepers in the past. I tend to think we can do better but not sure who we can get.

No thanks, I think we can do better. Would like to get an experienced keeper in ideally who has played regular first team football. Would like us to have a word with Ben Foster, see if we can perhaps offer him a one year playing deal with a view to taking up a coaching role maybe.

That’s a good shout about Foster, I’d love to see him here.

On the face of it he is unrealistic when it comes to wages but depending on his ambitions, a future coaching role might appeal. Worth a chat with him at least.

I think I'd rather Southwood be given another shot than give Nyland a contract, I actually think Southwood is the better keeper but suffered from having absolutely no protection in front of him and a subsequent massive hit in confidence.

He's not very good. If we sign a keeper they should be clearly better than Southwood and Andresson. He isn't.

YorkshireRoyal99 A few decent, experienced players on that list who wouldn't harm us, I just don't think many of them are up-and-comers who would look to take us forward. Tommy Smith, Tom Ince, Korey Smith, James Chester and Neil Taylor wouldn't be bad from the list.

All would definitely be worthy acquisitions, along with Foster, but surely we'd be hamstrung by wages for all of them, no?

It depends what their demands are, that we will never truly know.

I suppose we can take some solace from someone like Hoilett though who agreed to a wage around £8k p/w (or whatever our limit was) when was likely earning significantly more at Cardiff prior to his release.

A lot of those players are on the wrong side of 30, so may be willing to take a pay cut for some decent minutes at this level. I'd definitely take Korey Smith if we were to lose Laurent/Rino for sure.

Complete "no" from me to Ben Foster - file under Bradley Dack as another player who is more interested in his "off-field activities"

It sounds like Stoke want him but I agree he’d be a great signing. I think he’s around 30 so not a bad age either.

Maybe as an ex-Brentford player the area would appeal to him.

Not sure, maybe about £12k a week? Will the maximum salary we can pay a free transfer still be £8k a week or will that depend on whether we can offload Puscas, Moore etc.?

Although we have been grossly overpaying some of our players a lot of clubs don’t, so we might be able pick up some decent players and keep within our budget constraints.

I'd take Anthony Stewart from wycombe, always seemed pretty solid. Looks a bit more athletic than our current centre backs and available more often than mcintyre or dann

This guy has always been very impressive when I have seen Wycombe and I thoroughly agree that he would be a great asset.

Fulham have let Cyrus Christie go but I guess he’ll go to Swansea.

Alfie Mawson on that released list as well. I'd have him in a heartbeat although realistically I think his wage demands are too much.

Let’s hope that Ince, Bowen and Carey can work some magic. Hopefully, we’ll know a lot more as preseason gets close as Ince wants a squad to work with by then. I’d be happy with Mawson or Jeanvier who Brentford have released. As a season long loan option I like Charlie Goode.

All good options. I think we will need a bit more cover at centre half as I think McIntyre may be getting converted into a midfielder, especially if we struggle to tie down some of the out of contract players.
