Tdd rumours and nonsense

by Brogue » 01 Sep 2022 14:48

So a rumour gathering pace on Twitter we are after Cafu on loan from Forrest. Probably nonsense but hey it’s a rumour and this is the rumours section of the board

Can't see it happening personally speaking. Quite like him as a player and, if we could actually buy players for fees, would be reasonably happy with him as a transfer.

This would only make sense if we think we are able to covert any of the other loans to a full deal on a free transfer. Else we will have 1 loanee out of the squad each match.

Forces rotation I guess, which may not be a bad thing.

If it is in any way true (and I struggle at the moment to think it is) , then we must be passing on (or been rejected by) the triallists incl. Luongo.

Also, no reliable source tweeting it to date.

Don’t see us adding another midfielder, we’re very well-stocked there now.

We do have a history of signing Bissau-Portuguese midfielders who recently played for Forest though… we even signed one who was named after a World Cup winner before.

We play 3 and we have 4 seniors, one of whom is injured, plus Tetek. :?:

1. Reading’s injury record will probably mean at least 1 loanee will be under treatment most games anyway
2. Luongo is a free agent so Reading don’t have to get him signed today and can concentrate on other things

Fornah, Loum, Hendrick, Ejaria, Hutchinson… feels like plenty to me after being really short at the start of pre-season.

Hutchinson is first choice at centre back. We now have two out injured. That means 2 senior midfielders for three slots

Two slots surely ? Unless the Stoke game didn’t happen.
And by making a very subtle positional change you could pretty much get Hutch playing both positions at once anyway.

Ince played midfield. Of course we can change our shape. Hardly ideal.

Ok, so the list of people who can play midfield missed out Ince. It’s either 3 for 3 slots or 2 for 2.
And we did change our shape against Stoke. For years we’ve been criticised for having no Plan B, now having a Plan B (that works) is not ideal…
And put Hutch in front of the Toms instead of behind and suddenly he’s a covering midfielder rather than a centre back without actually radically changing much.
