I heard Sunderland also want Nobody. A much bigger club than us, and Keane is nobody's boyhood hero.

I refuse to believe this until it appears on the official site, or someone in the ticket office confirms it.

Ian Abrahams sports news bulletin following 10am news on Talk Sport yesterday quoted Coppell as saying that there will be no activity at Mad Stad during transfer window despite recent results. Having said that I recall IH announcing last August that Shorey was going to Wst Ham for £5m so its probably crap.

Unfortunately I don't think its unrealistic to see Reading do b*gger all in the transfer window and then blame the fact that its a niche market and that would there was no-one available that would have improved the squad....

This team, and its supporters, desperately need, at the very least, someone to come in and spark a bit of interest even if they do no more than freshen it up and get the others to perform more consistently.

One thing you can never accuse Reading of is buying Willy Nilly.

Statement on OS this morning from SC - seems you are right. Every confidence in present squad, adequate replacements for those going to ANC, club cannot afford exp signings, happy if hr has to run with no signings etc etc

Like the last bit, tickets on sale for Spurs at the weekend, just £20 for a game we will play our second string and we could not give a toss about, so feck you supporters.

EP suggests today first signing will be announced this week, though it's a "one for the future" type of signing.

If Coppell does not strengthen this month & results do not improve - He can expect to be under serious pressure from the Reading fans.

Simple fact - If COppell doesn't strengthen our side & we go down, he HAS to go.

In your opinion.

He will go if we go down through his choice but I would prefer him to stay as he would be the best man to get us back up.

I'd hazard a guess that Coppell is saying this so that teams don't inflate their prices. If we make an enquiry after having said we're desperate for players then teams could inflate their price by £2m knowing full well that we need to get that player. I'd be surprised if he doesn't bring anyone in after having admitted he should have signed a couple of players in the summer.

Why? He wants players, he's said as much back in November that we MUST invest.

It wont be Coppell's fault we don't spend 'big' this month. And why on earth would we sack the best manager in our history and the manager best placed to take us back up?

Steve Coppell The January transfer window is now open, but Steve does not envisage any quick fixes.

"Everyone seems to think that you strengthen in January and that will be it, season transformed.

"I have confidence in my squad of players. Do I have confidence to get into Europe? No. Do I have confidence in them full stop? Yes.

"They give me everything, I am happy with them.

"We've got Sonko and Bikey away, but I have Duberry to come in.

"If you look at our situation and the players we can sign, our market is very limited.

"We work very hard with the resources we have, to make the best use of them.

"We can't afford to sign expensive players. You look at Portsmouth's centre halves, they were free transfers but we can't afford them.

"I am happy to go with what I have got.

"If we get people in, great. If we don't, I'll quite happily go with it."
