mini _dariusz Would love to see him return but really can't see it.

I agree! Sidwell tried at a big 4 club and it wasn't successful. He tried his best but didn't work out. No shame in coming back from a busmans holiday

Except we'd have to pay £Xm for a player we let go for free!

Would be worth it for us.

But he won't come back, obviously.

Agree. Ihave said before that the team that has served us so well over the past few years is at the end of it's shelf-life, and Sidwell wiould not be the long term solution a I doubt he would come back on anything more than a season long loan.

Better to start building a new team now, and hopefully we can maintain our Premiership status while doing so.

I'd like to see him come back, and put him on the bench. Petty? Yes, but it appeals to my sad sense of humour!

Would love to see sidders come back - the team has never been quite right since he left, would be worth the risk to see if he could solve our midfield problem...

Would be good to see the old Sidders Back.

But he might be a changed player.
He may think he is the best and would not pass.
It's funny what Chelsea do to you.

get him back and give him a crack at right wing.

Almost everyone else has tried, why not Sid.

I'd like him back - and it could be positive for him and us. Before he moved on, I felt he was a good player except he kept squandering too many balls with (missed) shots at goal when he should have passed to someone in a better position, or at least someone with a better shots/goals ratio. Was he trying to impress other managers perhaps? If he came back, hopefully he'd not feel the need to (try and) score so much and would shoot less and assist more while maintaining the rest of his excellent game.

can't see him coming back when he started last night. Think he will stay to at least the end of the season

he was truly awful last night. He did not make 1 tackle of note, got rid of the ball as soon as he got it, and spent most of the game pointing to where other players should pass the ball, away from him.

Agreed. Dunno whether he feels out of his league, or just out of form, but wasn't playing like he use to.

His confidence looked as low as any footballer can get. He didn't really want to be in the thick of it, and certainly had no intention of shooting. He had a great opportunity in the last couple of minutes, granted it wasn't a brilliant pass to him in the end, but he almost waited to be closed down.

Bit sad really.

Getting paid a large 5 sum figure each week for sitting on the bench and playing "reserve" games - yeah real sad

Schards#2, on the other Sidwell thread, Eh?

I thought he had a decent game last night.

He was not one of the three players substituted and did a solid workmanlike job.

I wasn't watching every minute last night, was doing other stuff, but it was on. The commentators were forever mentioning him and no player is perfect. I'd say to immediately attack his game would be extremly harsh.

bless him-sort of

but it was hardly unpredicted by anyone
he knew he would have to force his way past some of the best midfielders in the world to get regular footy there
he backed his own ability, but it looks like he thought he was better than he actually was
im not sure id want him back, would be a massive step back for him(in his head)
and may well disrupt the team for us too
plus i doubt we would pay his astronomical wages

SC's adamant comments that Sidwell is not going anywhere would lead me to think that someone has had a quiet word with Sidwell and he is going to stick it out a Chelsea whatever until the end of the season. He would be mad to leave in any case as he has a good chance of winning a league cup winners medal now Chelsea have reached the final and have a lot of injuries.

I very much doubt he will be a Chelsea next season though - unless he is happy just taking the money and having few games.

it saddens me that this has happened to sidders, we all thought in the back of our minds that it would go this way, but fair play to him he backed his own ability and gave it a go, in many respects the easy thing to do in his situation would have been to take the 25-30k we were reportedly offering and, to stick to what he knew, he tried and if it doesnt work out at chelsea then at least he won't be left wondering what if, and im sure there will be plenty of takers when he is available!
