Hahnemann has to go this year...

by jimbangg » 05 Feb 2008 00:15

He simply isn't tall enough or good enough to play for RFC any more. Any thoughts?

a. just because this was my first post it doesnt make me a "newbie", given the length of time i have supported the club and using hna.

b. Being the 5th best gk in the prem isnt good enough (i would also point out we have the joint worse defence in the prem) the gk is a major part of the defence.

c. he is too short and has short arms, slow reaction times, too heavy and lets in too many.

If only Steve Coppell had realised this when he sees Marcus 5 times a week on the training ground - all our troubles could have been over long ago if on'y he'd got a tape measure out and measured Marcus's arms.

The point is that Steve Coppell sees Marcus 5 times a week in training, has a team of coaches (including a dedicated goalkeeping coach) doing the same and has access to in-depth computer analysis of his matchday performances. I think he is a far better judge of whether Marcus should be in the team than some kid on an internet message board who comes out with such gems as "his arms are too short."

Have you ever heard of Steve Death? Great goalkeeper but a short-arse!

But working on your criteria for selecting goalkeepers, perhaps we should be ignoring on-field performances and scouring circuses and basketball teams instead.

PS - I hope you don't mind - I rectified your inability to use the quote function, and I also used punctuation and capital letters in my post - I hope you can still understand it.

What a supercilious little sod Dirk is...he really does know everything. I'm surprised Coppell hasn't asked his opinion on why we concede so many goals...And how dare I (a lifelong R.F.C. fan) suggest Hahenmann doesn't fit the bill anymore.

I would like to know what "qualifications" Dick, sorry Dork has, which makes his "opinion" more important than mine

Not a more "important" opinion, but certainly a better argued one.
